A Deeply Disappointing Experience at Sooda Korean BBQ – Brentwood
For Mother’s Day, I ordered food via DoorDash from Sooda Korean BBQ for my 80-year-old mother and aunt. Both women are recently widowed, and my aunt is recovering from cancer. I wanted them to enjoy a warm meal and feel cared for on what is an emotionally difficult day.
Unfortunately, one of the items — the bean sprouts — tasted “off,” and shortly after, my aunt developed foodborne gastroenteritis.

Sooda Korean BBQ offers a welcoming dining experience with friendly and attentive staff. The large space spans two floors and is suitable for groups of three or more, helping to avoid leftovers. The menu features unique dishes like the Sooda special hot plate and the Sooda box, which is cut into bite-sized pieces for a fun and flavorful meal. The restaurant is known for its well-cooked and seasoned daeji galbi, and the seafood pancake, which is extra crispy with fewer veggies and seafood than usual but still enjoyable. The Sooda pan allows diners to try all ingredients separately before stir-frying them together. The tofu soup comes with its own heating plate, cooked at the table, and the gigantic prawns are very fresh. The Soodubu big pot has flavorful, spicy soup, although the broth can be limited, and staff are helpful in providing additional broth when needed. The Sooda box, offering two flavors—original and butter mayo—can be ordered as a full or half portion, though the menu and ordering process may seem confusing at first. The Sooda box sushi is beautifully displayed and flavorful. The restaurant’s ordering pad is easy to use, and servers tend to the needs of customers well. Overall, the place is highly recommended for its unique dishes and friendly service, with many customers looking forward to returning and trying more offerings like the soju flight. Visitors also praise the high quality of food, especially the beef tartar sushi roll, and appreciate the lively yet comfortable atmosphere. The staff, including Seoyoung, is often highlighted for being friendly and helpful, making repeat visits very enjoyable. The restaurant’s fresh, flavorful food and excellent service make it a popular spot for casual meals or fun nights out in Gastown.
