Had a somewhat disappointing meal here recently. I’ve been here multiple times and every time the food was really good. But for whatever reason this time around everything just tasted different. We started with the Caesar salad and it felt like it was just lettuce mixed with dressing. We usually look forward to a good Caesar and were hoping to see some anchovies, but there weren’t any. Overall it just tasted bland and a bit rushed, which was surprising.
We then had the meatballs and the portion was huge which was nice. I didn’t mind this dish but it was a lot of food so make sure you come hungry.
The pizza we ordered was the pesto one and it was tasty, but something about it felt off compared to before. It seemed a little greasy. The usual person who makes the pizza, maybe the owner, wasn’t there tonight so perhaps that made a difference.
The tiramisu was fantastic! It was a large portion as well. So I definitely felt I got value tonight which was nice.
I’m not sure if the restaurant has changed hands or if it was just an off night, but the food didn’t measure up to our past experiences. Normally it’s a five-star meal here so this visit was disappointing. Hopefully next time will be back to the usual standard.

We’ve been here a few times in the past, and have enjoyed our evenings here. The last time we came we ordered our typical appies, and then pastas and pizza for dinner. Our drinks took quite a while to come to us, but they cited being busy on a weekend as the delay, however we were here again on a Tuesday evening for dinner and again the service was super slow, specifically the drinks. The dinner was served to us and the soda my husband ordered didn’t arrive till we were pretty much finished eating. I don’t think the busy-ness of the restaurant had anything to do with it, I just think their bar operates far too slow. I didn’t bother ordering another drink, but I can imagine the loss of sales due to a slow bar. Food was not as good as the last. Our bolognese was lacking tomatoe sauce (was just quite dry) however my son was quite happy with his pizza. Our appetizers were delicious, we got the meatballs and Caesar salad, which is very well seasoned. A couple things to fix, bar specifically but otherwise it’s always been a positive experience.

I went here for the first time with my boyfriend for our one year anniversary. The food was amazing, we got a pasta dish and a pizza to share. Honestly though what completely made our night the most spectacular was our sever Chloe (I’m assuming the restaurant only has one server named Chloe but just in case, it was the beautiful one with long dark hair). She was so kind and pleasant, made a really good recommendation for the wine, made sure we were happy all night, never let my wine glass go empty, 10/10 service. Also was very patient with me when I asked her to take a picture of us lol. It was all 10/10 but I find the service can make for a better experience than the food, and nothing here disappointed. Highly recommend.

Its just getting it's feet on commercial. We had the appetizer meat balls. I think mayb a balance w a pinch of sugar would have made this dish more palatable. The pizza looked good, next time! Looking forward to giving a chance to pizza!

2025: 3/5 6 years later revisiting this spot and the Margherita was just mid. I can't tell if the quality has gone down or my tastebuds for pizza became more refined. The Margherita tasted bland from a lack of tomato flavour from the sauce. There was only maybe 5 tables occupied in the restaurant yet we still had to wait a while and flag a waiter down to get water and menu. Don't think I will visit again.
2019: 5/5 One of my favorite pizza places. Diavola is my favorite because of the cheese and the very flavorful salami. The pizza tastes the best when it's fresh out of the oven because of the melted cheese and the crisp crust. But for takeout, the flavor is still good. I also love the Margherita (can't go wrong with it). Salsiccia has red peppers, onions, and sausage. In comparison to the others I've tried, the taste is less intense.

Some of the best Italian Pasta you will find not only on Commercial Drive but also in the City. Great atmosphere and a well decorated spot, SSP does not fail to deliver. I’ve been here a couple of times before and I feel like they are even better than now. We had 4 types of pasta and they were all on point. 100% recommended for a date night. But we went with two families and it was easy, the staff was great and as mentioned, the food was on point.

Fantastic service, well rounded restaurant! Came over to celebrate our daughter’s birthday with our family of 13. Even though there was a mistake in the OpenTable booking, the hostess and manager solved it and sat our family next to each other. The server’s service was also impeccable- she even took care of “that family member” who doesn’t like flat Pepsi and produced a can of coke! They were also super accommodating to our family member with many allergies. The food was delicious. Great selection of dishes. The salads would benefit from a bit more pizzazz. Our pizzas and pastas were delicious- we especially enjoyed the truffle options. We brought a birthday cake and they were great about bringing it out with plates, for a small fee. The atmosphere is also quite pleasant and the space is nicely decorated. Congratulations to the manager and whole team. You are excellent!
This was my 2nd visit. The food is great although the Calzone was a bit salty on a Friday night. Pricing is high but I'll blame it on what's going on such as rent/lease, ingredients and staffing.
It was a bit loud inside and had tough time talking (im not 40 yet lol) but overall it's a decent spot.

It was a lovely evening, but the acoustics are a little bad so it's hard to hear your friends when you're trying to talk. The service was lovely, but because it was so busy it took us quite a while to get our check. The food was delicious.
