I had a beautiful dinner here last month, everything I ordered was perfect. I don't drink, but I was able to have a carefully crafted cocktail and a decent non-alcoholic red wine. The friends that I was with did have a couple faux pa's ... the pork shoulder was super over cooked, and the flambe was so boozy it was inedible for them. Having said that, everything I ate was just perfect (hence the 5 stars!), so no complaints from me! I consider myself a major foodie, so I also think I'm a good picker ;-P ... if I had a title for my personal dinner it would be 'flawless execution'

The initial impression of St Lawrence is not what I expected for a Michelin starred French restaurant. It is small and unpretentious. It is also very busy and bustling. When we arrived we were told that there were no tables and were seated at the bar. Not my initial preference but as we progressed through the 4 course table d'hôte menu we realized that the bar was a perfect place to observe the symphony of cooking and team coordination that was taking place in front of us. One of the three small starters, the foie custard was amazing and had us scraping out our bowls. I had the steelhead trout for my first course and the sablefish for my third course and both were exceptional. While the food was absolutely superlative, watching the whole restaurant's team working together in the limited space was also very enjoyable. Our server, CC handled two parties, did the bar tending and would dry glasses when needed. I would have expected Quebec cuisine to be defined in Quebec City or somewhere in the Eastern Townships but the owner and chef JC Poirier is doing it in Vancouver. A delightful dinner and wonderful evening. Highly recommended.

We came for the Cabane à Sucre menu, and it was a bit of a mixed bag. The restaurant is more like a casual bistro. It was packed to the gills with essentially no space between tables, which made for a pretty loud and cramped experience.
As for the food, most of it wasn't particularly impressive, with the notable exception of the rice pudding, which was easily the highlight of the meal. If I were a Michelin judge, I wouldn't be handing out any stars here; it’s more of a local 'Recommended' spot for a casual bite rather than a destination for fine dining.

Phenomenal. The food was excellent. I don't think you can find haute cuisine this good outside of Quebec. I love that it was in the downtown east side. Great server.

The foie gras they serve with the maple jelly is insane! Fantastic service and ambiance. I would come back and try another menu.

Amazing experience. Small restaurant with a fun and subdued atmosphere (loved the French Quebec music!). The food was perfectly executed and delicious. Cocktail was great. Service was on point. Would definitely recommend and return.

Classic French cuisine, flawlessly executed👌🏼
The rabbit stole the show, and the maple tart sealed the deal. An incredible experience! Already planning our return.

Just okay.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the food. It's well prepared and objectively delicious, unfortunately it's easily forgettable as well.

Service was warm and lovely, wine options were nice, cocktail was good. I will note service did feel a tad rushed during the tasting menu and drinks took a while to be refreshed. The table next to us had the menu served in the wrong order.

One issue we had while dining was our table, specifically my husband's seat. The table is located next to the entry, it's winter and other parties wait in this very small space. The only thing between this seat and the entry is a curtain. My husband got knocked while eating a couple of times by people who probably didnt know there was a person trying to eat and drink just on the other side. At one point he felt the person on the other side leaning on him completely unaware and had to push back (probably agaisnt this person's bum). This is something that could be fixed fairly easily and a detail that affected the overall enjoyment of the meal.

I don't totally understand the accolades this restaurant has received. While it's good, there's better in this category and price point.

Delicious food. Dessert was a little lackluster but everything else was great. Don’t expect to linger. They really rush you through to get the next seating in. 4 course dinner with an amuse bouche and coffee. The check was dropped 90 minutes after we were sat down

Came here for our first Michelin Star French restaurant experience. We tried the tasting menu plus Escargots. Overall the food was good. The first two courses (crudo and duck), and the escargots were great. Thing started to fall apart with the third course (venison), way too acidic and dark for my personal taste, and the flambéed crepes were not great as a dessert. Service was great as expected, atmosphere was amazing (loved the wall decor). We ended up paying just around $350 ($430 after tips) for two people. It was a good one-time experience if you have never been to a similarly styled restaurant, but nothing overly amazing beyond that.

Really wonderful food and service! The servers and the food couldn't be any better. The kitchen is open to the dining room, and even the kitchen team have a jolly and positive attitude that contributes to the experience.

I appreciated that in each set if course choices had at least one non-seafood option, though our party had every dish collectively and each was rated top notch.

I also appreciated a wide offering of non-alcohol or de-alchoholed drink choices.

The venue is tightly packed and quite loud however; and you should plan at least two hours to make it through all the courses.

We go to restaurants first and foremost for the food but when 2 out of 3 guests end up sick from it, well thats a big no-no. Place is nice although a bit on the cramped side, service if impecable but again, getting sick is a big NOT COMING BACK HERE EVER red flag. Personally, I think the prix fixe plate practice of the industry is nothing more than serial production of food not worth it anymore, it might once been a cost effective way of a curated experience, at St Lawrence its clearly not

Surely what my friend and I experienced tonight is not what fetched this restaurant a Michelin star. That was painfully average level of service and unremarkable food at an inflated price.

Brought my friend for her birthday and neither of us felt our main server was providing a stand out experience. It felt almost more condescending than an elegant elevated dining environment.

What worked for us was the cook on all the meat we were served was fantastic, but that's not enough to save a menu when you're being served three to four bite portions. The timing was also off between courses. The first two came relatively quick and then our main dishes took a noticeably long time.

The orange crepe was inedible with the amount of grand marnier used in the flambe. I wish we hadn't bothered with it at all.

All I can say is the hype does this place no favours. It's probably a matter of catching the right server and the right menu to ensure you have the Michelin experience. Their December 2025 menu is not it.
