We just found Sumi last month and we have already been here 3 times. It’s so good that we keep coming back!!😆😆 very authentic Korean food, I love their Jjang bang so much. I saw a lot of people ordering seafood pancake, it is huge but kinda flaky in my opinion, I will recommend their Korean Fried Chicken more! Very big portions, you can take home and continue eating it for next meal😆
So far we have tried seafood tofu soup, bimbimbap, bulgogi, and noodles, they are all delicious!

Food is not bad. But the actual price is several dollars higher than the price written on Google. I can't give the restaurant a high score because even though I asked for a price correction, they still didn't.

The overall atmosphere of this Korean restaurant is quite nice, and the side dishes were very good, the kimchi was the type I enjoy. We ordered the beef bone seolleongtang and the beef tofu stew.
The seolleongtang had a great flavor, definitely above average. Wondering if they made it in house. The glass noodles inside were cooked in a way I’m not used to — soft yet surprisingly chewy — but my partner really liked that texture.
The beef tofu stew was decent. The tofu was soft and tasty, but the soup itself lacked depth and could use more ingredients. The biggest issue was the beef: instead of sliced beef or small chunks, they used ground beef formed, maybe this is kind of the transitional style?
Overall, the food was okay, some good points, but also a few disappointments.

Got takeout and all the dishes were securely packed in spill proof containers which is great for saucy and soupy food. All the dishes were solid for Korean food. Would highly recommend the seafood pancake which had lots of nice seafood in it and a perfect crisp. The soybean paste noodles and tteok bokki were good too. The rice portions could be bigger. Flavours of all the dishes were on point though.

Ive been visiting Sumi for years. Very clean and spacious space. My favourite is 짜장면 & 냉면. Side dishes for 삼겹살 is pretty decent and generous portion too. The owner Korean 아저씨 is chill, humorous and kind. Seems like family owned restaurant. So their ambiance always makes me smile and comfortable.

The BEST Korean restaurant in Vancouver. They make REAL Korean food here, everything is just perfect. Portions are seriously SO GENEROUS and you can’t go wrong with any dish. Even the side dishes are made with so much care it feels like it was made at home. Wonderful staff too and super fast service! Nothing can make me hate this place my favourite go-to spot!! If you want to have authentic, flavourful, and just the best Korean food please come here!!!

I used to come here a few times, but today I had a bad experience. First the restaurant had only half or less of the tables being occupied. Thus there were several tables available. I said to the waitress we were 2 people, and she pointed us to sit on the table for 2, however, I told her we will be ordering a lot and won’t fit in that table, can we move to the table over there? … it was the booth for 4 that I was asking, and she said “sorry, only if it is for 3 people”. We had to walk away because in my experience on what we always order we know the food won’t fit in that smaller table. Also there were 2 other booths of the same (that fits 4 people) also only occupied by 2 people each table.

Was there in the past, this time is very obvious that the portion are way smaller than before and the price is at least 40% more.

I was craving gamjatang and we were in the area so we decided to try out Sumi. So glad we found this place! Reasonably priced servings and comforting Korean dishes that hit the spot. The gamjatang was clean and the bulgogi wasn’t too sweet. Will definitely be back to try their other offerings.
They automatically added 15% tip onto the bill. I tip but I should be able to decide how much to tip based on service and food. Plus tipping is optional, some cultures don't even tip!!!

We actually come here quite a lot (It was nearby my house). Mostly, we ordered their Jjajangmyeon (black soybean sauce noodle), Bulgogi, and Haemul-pajean (seafood pancake). The Jjajangmyeon was really tasty. The sauce was savoury and thick. Their bulgogi sauce was spicy and sweet. The seafood pancake was so huge, the toppings were also generous. The owner often works together with the servers. He was so friendly and heart-warming. This place was clean and cozy.

I’ve been to many Korean restaurants around Vancouver, but Sumi really stands out.
The food has that perfect balance — flavorful without being too salty or greasy.
You can tell everything’s made with care, from the side dishes to the main plates.
Portions are generous, service is friendly, and the whole place feels warm and welcoming.
It’s the kind of spot you keep coming back to because the food just hits the spot every time.

I visited Sumi Restaurant during my business trip to Vancouver.
The food was excellent authentic Korean flavors, well-balanced seasoning, and generous portions.
It was a great place to unwind after work and enjoy a comforting meal that reminded me of home.
I’d definitely recommend it to anyone in Vancouver looking for quality Korean food and friendly service.

I've been here twice and only had one dish - the jeyuk dubpap. Its fantastic - spicy and layered flavors. Also great value - large portion with soup and appetizers. I plan on exploring the menu - seafood pancake will be next on my list. Service is prompt and I like the elegant decor. Definitely a jewel on the Victoria Strip.
