My favorite sushi restaurant! The chef is Japanese. The sushi are well portioned between the rice and the fish. Many types of fish from Japan to choose from. Reasonably priced and cozy atmosphere.

Came here while visiting from Calgary after seeing so many videos on Instagram. I made reso few weeks before. One of very few "influencer" recommended that was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Fish quality was amazing, prices for regular rolls were decent. Service was not bad but not the bestest - good enough service. Would definitely recommend.

Finally got to visit this place. You can call starting at 4:30 (on the days they are open) for reservations. There are six tables in the restaurant and it feels their focus is really on quality food while providing an unrushed dining experience (2 hour maximum dine in times).
I booked an earlier time slot and the sign on the door already said 'closed' with a handwritten sign underneath mentioning they were fully booked for the evening.
The unrushed atmosphere is nice and despite some people ignoring the closed sign and asking for walk in seating the staff handled them professionally while keeping an eye on the existing tables. Food was delivered at a good pace and the quality of the fish was excellent. Even the ginger, wasabi, and soya sauce tasted different (but good!) than other restaurants I've been to.
They have an interesting selection of sake and despite the short beer list, I did not recognize two of them. I tried a yuzu infused IPA which I felt went well with the food.
If you are looking for a glamorous dining room this place probably isn't it. But if you want a well paced evening in an unpretentious room (with excellent quality food) I would recommend giving Sushi by Yuji a try.
The Japanese staff are extremely polite and helpful. They play Japanese music, enhancing the restaurant's authenticity, which is crucial. Dining here feels like a brief escape to Japan from Vancouver. It's a wonderful place!

After 6 years, food quality still top notch, raising the bar high for other sushi providers.
Case in point: Saba (mackerel) is exemplary, with a moist texture and nice seasoning. At other places, the saba is over-cured, dry, and even tough. Also had the wild salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and unagi here, which were all excellent.
I appreciate the attention paid to the serving plates, tea cups, and beer glasses, which--along with the freshly prepared wasabi--foster a more reverential experience.
Yuji tried 150 sake varieties and selected his fave 3 for the sake sampler. This is indicative of the quality here.
