We really like this place overall, however when you order delivery they don’t listen to special instructions. For example Whenever we order avocado rolls we always ask for no cucumbers (my daughter hates them) and they just do not listen. 😒

An ownership change has happened within the last year few years for sure. The Chefs are all different. The servers used to be all Korean girls. The quality of the food pales in comparison to the original owner. The flavors were not only bland, but the sauces were not on point with other Japanese restaurants. The portion sizes has also shrunk so much. Never returning.

Came in around 4:45 ok so restaurant was pretty empty before the dinner rush.
Saw good reviews on the lunch boxes but it was past time so I Ordered the Nana Galbi Box. Batter for tempura was good, and one tempura item was part of a salmon filet. The dynamite roll has rice on the outside. Unconventional but fine. Ribs were as expected. dressing had the right balance. Gyoza was also done to a good finish but could have been crispier. Missed the wasabi and ginger on the first service and had to ask for it. Feels like it could use a dry and cheap carb like rice or noodles to balance it out and give a companion to the ribs. The choice of dynamite roll with shrimp tempura alongside tempura as a major feature seems a little redundant and makes the box a bit one-dimensional.
The miso soup was fine. The sunomono that came with the box was uninspired. Had some green in it, and just noods. A token mini slice of lemon would have been a nice garnish, even if just for aesthetics.
Would come back if in the area and needed a quick bite, but not something I’d phone home about.

We ordered for pick-up, and when I was going to tap to pay, I noticed the host arbitrarily selected the highest tip. I handed it back asking why $68 vs the receipt cost to of $48. Shamelessly fixes it. No apology offered. Check what you’re paying.

The food and place felt almost like Japan. Overall, it was a good experience. I remembered I couldn’t pay because I forgot my card in my room. The cashier looked a bit confused and unsure when I said I needed to go back to get it. Luckily, my homestay was only a couple of blocks away from Sushi Nanaimo, and she let me go get my card. I came back, paid, and we good.

The staff are very friendly and the food comes out so fast! Everything is delish, they have a mix of classic sushi items as well as some yummy more unique items. It's my go to neighborhood sushi

The food is delicious with affordable prices and the dishes have a good portion. In general everything is very good although the yakisoba was very oily and even felt a little heavy in my stomach and another thing that has happened to me the times I have gone with my husband is that they do not give us green tea and everyone else. diners yes (as a joke we say that they don't give us because we are not Asian although maybe it is a little true haha)

Save your money go anywhere but this horrible excuse for a sushi restaurant. Servers are some of the rudest ive ever seen. Happily coming by and asking tables directly beside me if they wanted water while ignoring us.
I ordered a box first part comes out the next comes out 30 mins after. I ask them jf they can pack it up for me thry say no and hand me a small box. I wait another 10 mins for another box. I ask for the manager after i paid. She stands there giggling at me.
Will never be back will make sure i tell everyone i know to never come back absolutely horrible
