It was an amazing experience.
For each sushi, the chefs showed the fish it is made from.
All dishes were amazing. I particularly enjoyed uni sushi, sabe sushi, and hotate chawanmushi.
The staff was kind and very attentive.
I would definitely visit again.
Dietary restrictions: They changed a few dishes to accomodate my shellfish allergy.

The theatrics of this Omakase is not a gimmick, the sushi here is very good. Perfect place to come for a special occasion or if you love sushi and want to experience something unique and memorable.

This is another Michelin-starred restaurant in Vancouver, with three locations across Canada. Overall, my impression of this restaurant is that it offers a comprehensive dining experience. The meal begins with all the courses being introduced at once, and a black curtain covering the inside of the U-shaped counter. To start, they chant a Shingon Buddhist sutra, setting a unique tone for the experience.
All the waitresses wore traditional Japanese kimonos, and they played birthday music on a traditional Japanese flute to celebrate one customer's birthday, which added a special touch.
As for the food, I can’t recall exactly how many dishes were served, but it was a lot, and the quantity was more than satisfying. What stood out was that they often mentioned the origin of the ingredients, which were mostly from Japan. However, when they didn’t mention the origin of the otoro (fatty tuna), I asked, and they told me it was from Mexico. Generally, tuna is considered better when it comes from cold oceans due to its higher fat content, but the Mexican otoro was still quite good.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed their comprehensive dinner show. It was a new and unique experience for me.

Excellent food. Some of the best sushi I've had. The service was impeccable and the chefs were stellar. There is definitely a theatrical component to the show that adds to the experience. The music was perhaps too loud and the price was quite high. But overall fantastic.
The best omakase experience! Highly recommend

It was a good and interesting dinner with some meaningful act by the chefs and crew team
Atmosphere was great. Very cozy and clean and nice environment where I guess can seat total 14-15 people if needed
Performance will start at the dedicated time
So pls come on time as a respect to the chef and other customers as they only start when everyone seated
All Japanese crew and well served
Quality is very good and combining the whole journey of the course, its value to enjoy and tasted the variety of ingredients they prepared
The menu is seasonal so u may taste different food or fish next time
Be prepare that it has lots of food
I guess around 25 small plates for each person. For the customer who cannot eat too much, can request less rice or reduced portions
This one in Vancouver serve 2 dinner section so come on time and outside pay street parking is limited as this is located in a busy neighborhood, so be prepared
I can say value for money. Should come enjoy the show and food if u around.

This is an omakase spot I've always wanted to visit. The entire experience is not just about dining; it includes various performances and has a strong sense of ceremony. Each dish is exquisitely prepared, featuring not only sashimi and sushi but also grilled eel skewers and a wide variety of small dishes. They even showcase different types of fish, and serve Japanese-imported Hami melons. If someone is celebrating a birthday, the chef will play the violin. It was an amazing experience, and I will definitely visit again.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Chefs and staff were engaging and announced each course. Atmosphere is beautiful and the food was outstanding. Was a bit surprised at some of the other guests showing up late but otherwise the meal was deserving of a Michelin Star!
Wonderful. Great food and service. My favorites were the chawanmushi, corn soup, lobster tempura, the couple bluefin tuna dishes and anything with unagi. Yum, can't wait to return.
This theatrical experience was wonderful! From the service to watching the physical poetry of the culinary skills to the small perfectly executed bites we so delicately adorned our mouths. This is a very expensive experience for us but it is a once in a lifetime must for anyone who admires the mastery of what chefs can create from food to look amazing and taste so good that it's a dream!
Amazing chefs prepare food right in front of you for 2 hours. 25 small plates that are fresh and delightful. Was like chewing and performance art happening right in front of your eyes. It was my 60th Birthday and it was a real treat. Thank-you for a great Supper!
I have been to multiple three Michelin star restaurants around the world, and I thought my experience at Okeya Kyujiro could've rivaled any of them. To be fair, the price did compare to the restaurants I ate in Italy.
The ambience was fantastic, with lovely furniture and waiting room. The wait staff had kimonos and made me feel like I was in Japan again. Similarly, they managed to sync the music to some of the rituals which was interesting.
And the food was amazing. Most of the 20+ plus courses were a hit with me, offering intricate and layered flavors. The sweet shrimp sashimi and the otoro were especially succulent. But the menu does change, so just enjoy the meal.
The only qualm is that most of the ingredients are sourced from Japan, which makes sense but do bring into question the carbon footprint of my dinner.
