Overall, it was a great experience. I loved the stories behind each dish and drink. A bit pricey, but the food tastes good.

So happy we got to try this place, the food was great, and the staff was so kind with our little ones. Highly recommend and ty to the gentlemen that gave our daughter his multi-color pen it made her day.

All the appetizers were incredibly good but all the main dishes were really meh. The smell from the chef’s stir-frying was a bit unpleasant because that smell stayed with our clothes and hair even after we left the restaurant. Staff were really friendly and heart-warming.

After reading all the positive recommendations from other reviews, we decided to book a table for an annual dinner for 6 of us who rarely have simultaneous overlapping time off to come together. I think the accumulation of multiple small things made our dining experience unenjoyable overall.
They called the person in our group who booked our reservation the morning/afternoon of to confirm attendance. This is, of course, totally fine and is the standard with all places. They then called again 8 minutes after our 5:30pm reso time to ask if we were still coming. We were seconds from opening the door to check in with the host. We ran late because it was nearly freezing out and I was driving slow in case of ice on the road, but I believe this place has a 15 minute grace period, so it felt a bit strange to get that second call. Perhaps they meant well and this was due diligence but it almost seemed like they were checking to see if the table could be awarded to someone else waiting or suspecting us to cancel last minute.
As we checked in, the host asked us if our entire party was here, is this a policy here in order to sit down? It shouldn't impact anything whether we are all there or not. She mentioned there is another reservation at 8pm so we could stay until then. Again, completely fine, we acknowledged we will be out of the seats at 8.
As soon as we sit down, our waitress again tells us our table is only until 8pm. We acknowledged and said we will be done at 8pm. As our last person arrives at around 5:45pm, we get a THIRD reminder that the table is only until 8pm. Now the mood is soured, why do we need so many reminders?
The food was good, although overpriced for the portion sizes. The people bringing out the food are lovely and courteous and the plating time is well paced. The entire time we are conscious of how much time we have left. We order dessert around 7pm and plan on getting the bill at 7:45 so we have enough time to chat, enjoy time together and settle our bills and get up from the table right before 8pm. Per their own policy on their website, parties of 6 have a 2.5 hour dining time, so we have the table UNTIL 8pm, as they have also stated to us multiple times at this point.
7:25pm, our waitress quickly pit stops at our table to check if we want our bills separated. We say yes, thinking she's just prepping for closer to 8pm. No, our bills land on the table a couple minutes after. It feels like we are being pushed out purposely and passive aggressively. She then brings the machine out shortly after, as if insisting us to pay and leave. Why? We have the table until 8pm, this is unnecessarily premature and throws off the tone of our dinner. We ask her to take a photo of us, which she completely cuts out one of girls, plummeting our experience even further. As we are chatting and packing up and getting ready to leave, she stops by again at 7:56 and says they need the table for the next reservation, this time sounding annoyed and irritated, like we dared stay our full allotted 2.5 hours.
It is not our responsibility, as diners/guests, to adjust to a tight table turnaround if you choose, as the restaurant, to schedule back to back reservations. Possibly the worst ending to the evening was realizing that as a party of 6, there was 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill. I recognize that the beginning of this review can come across as nitpicky, but when you're so excited about trying out a new place with friends you haven't seen for a long time, all these little issues makes it all the more disappointing.

The food, service, and atmosphere was absolutely amazing. Our server, Zack, was great and added to the positive experience. The food was perfect - especially all the ceviche. The cocktails are unique to the restaurant and taste amazing.

We had a really lovely time last night. The team was so accommodating after our friend was late, and even adjusted their tables so we could stay longer catching up. Which honestly was so thoughtful and kind given that it’s the holiday season. We were celebrating my engagement and our server was so sweet and brought us a little treat after our meal too! The staff went above and beyond and we will remeber it. Thank you!!

A wonderful surprise!
This restaurant was recommended to me by a Vancouver resident as one of her favorites.
I loved everything: the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and the service. Everything was amazing!
I highly recommend it.

I had the opportunity to eat here a full 24hrs ago, and was so shaken that I’m only now able to compose myself enough to write a review.
It’s really hard for a restaurant in Vancouver to stand out, especially on that part of Main Street. Somehow, Suyo managed to do so. To say that everything was impeccable is an understatement; I’ve never encountered a team that is so demonstrably passionate about what they do. Our server was intimately familiar with the menu and just an awesome person. The bar lead visited our table and crafted a caffeinated cocktail for us. There were so many special touches.
Between the four of us, we tried almost every cocktail and food item on the menu. It’s difficult to pick standouts, but I’ll try. For food: veal anticucho, octopus anticuchero, short rib seco, arroz con pato. For drink: lunar, canopy, dune.
It’s expensive, but the value is there. Vancouver has a new gem.
edit: michelin ruins restaurants. likely twice the price, twice as hard to get into, and half the food now :(
edit#2: validating edit #1: suyo now does brunch! the cocktails and mocktails were delicious (especially the Uji one). I had the duck confit because I recall having amazing duck at suyo previously. Overall it was good, but the flavor profile didn’t wow me, nothing popped, and the duck was a little bit overcooked and chewy. The rice that was served with it was phenomenal and I could eat it all day. The cornbread was sublime and I could also eat that all day too, but weirdly it was served with half a stick of butter, which is probably why the add-on was $15 🤯 maybe they’re still getting the hang of the menu. But this first impression was lacklustre; I felt the food didn’t stand up to dinners I’ve had here, and (thanks Michelin) it was overpriced for what it was.

Highly recommended Suyo. Food is delicious, colourful platings, thoughtful on ingredients used. Must have their cocktails. Wide selection, best cocktails I have had! Now can understand why they got the Michelin excellence award on their cocktails. Suyo is a restaurant that I will definitely go back. Must make reservation well ahead of time. Staff are professional and cheerful, all servers are so knowledgeable too!

We are glad that we finally got to try SUYO and it didn't disappoint. We loved all our dishes. The duck confit was exceptional and a must try in my opinion. Also don't miss out on the chicken dish. Extremely tender chicken thighs marinated in yogurt. The desserts were artistically crafted and beautiful. The service was attentive and warm. Our server made sure our water glass was never empty which was a detail often missed even in fine dining restaurants.

Was an interesting experience. I felt as though the wine sommelier was irritated by my presence. I didn’t love the close elbows to my face all evening (I was the only one not partaking in the tasting). The food was amazing and our waitress was kind although, I felt like she was at our table the whole night. The restaurant itself is extremely tight and narrow, so it felt like it was a struggle to get up or other customers passing by constantly bumping your seats while eating - not a fan of that. I felt like timing on the food could’ve improved for the people with allergens during some courses as some of the dishes came out quite a bit later than the other food. Overall, it was nice but probably would never return. I’m glad I experienced it but I expected a better atmosphere.

We celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Ceviche Afrodisiaco, Pork Sliders, Octopus Anticuchero, Arroz con Pato, and Lucuma Crème Brûlée, along with glasses of Culmina Rosé and Viña Los Vascos.
Everything was excellent, flavorful dishes, beautiful plating, and great explanations from our server. We really enjoyed the unique spices and flavors of Peruvian cuisine.
The restaurant was packed when we arrived, so making a reservation is a good idea. It’s a cozy space, but the interior is well designed and it was still easy to have a conversation.
Expect to spend a bit more, but it’s worth it. We paid $268 for two people including tip. Service was friendly and attentive, just what you’d hope for from a high-end restaurant like Suyo.
Highly recommended for a special night out.

Lovely spot for Peruvian food. Well rated for good reason! Service was on point and very attentive. We started with the shrimp and scallop ceviche and it was my favorite dish all night. Acidic, tangy but so well balanced with fresh ingredients. Next up, the squid tentacle. It was recommended by our server but it was unfortunately a tad overcooked. We also had the beef tartare and it was quite nice with the taro chips. We shared two entrees - the duck over the bed of rice and the beef ribs. Both were very good, flavourful and filling.
Drinks were also excellent.
