Servers and food were great. Staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable. The prices were priced well considering how good the food tasted and how much we received. Me and my partner enjoyed the experience especially since it was her birthday.

We had a lovely lunch here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was delicious, and all the staff were so friendly and attentive. Thank you for the sweet surprise at the end — it really made our day! 💐

The food was decent but food took way too long to come out even though there were enough staffs to cover the floor.

We had the Uni Course for 2ppl. Good price for the amount of food provided. We were very full and couldn't finish. Uni and other sashimi were very fresh. Environment was comfortable.

Absolutely phenomenal experience at Takenaka Uni Bar!
Everything here screams quality — from the freshness of the sashimi to the creative presentation of every dish. You can tell the chefs truly care about their craft. The uni was buttery and rich, easily one of the best I’ve had in Vancouver.

The ambiance is intimate and modern, perfect for a date night or a relaxed dinner with friends. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they serve. Every recommendation they gave was spot-on.

If you love authentic Japanese food with a premium twist, this place is a total must-try. I’ll definitely be back again soon!

Great food and atmosphere. Staff were amazing and food came quite quickly. Menu was updated from last time I went here and the new items were amazing to try.

The restaurant noticed my request for a birthday celebration when I made reservation and had the request there, and they went above and beyond — they surprised us with a slice of cake topped with a candle and sparkler, which was such a lovely touch! They even gave us a Polaroid photo and helped take our picture, making the moment extra special. The food was fresh and delicious — we ordered the uni comparison omakase, and the portion was surprisingly generous. The staffs were friendly and attentive, and the service was excellent. Definitely will be back!

Food and service were both spectacular. Portions were a bit on the smaller side, even when compared to what we had in Japan. But then you can try more dishes. I'd love to make this one of my regular eat-out venues, but it's a tad expensive. 😜

Very very small portions but very expensive. Not worth it at all. Left hungry and had to get food elsewhere.

The picture on left is what I saw on social media vs. what I got ☠️

Servers seem nice but avoid this place

The staffs are friendly and sincere. The food is great. The best Toro Temaki! Also the staffs were very kind and helpful to fix our booking mistakes.

Amazing food! Uni lovers paradise! The portions are smaller when compared to average North American portions, but track for an authentic Japanese restaurant. (The servers were actually Japanese!) My boyfriend's friend highly praised the uni chawanmushi. We both got the seasonal Japanese Uni, Bluefin Tuna, and Ikura don and it was amazing. My boyfriend got the Hokkai-don and really enjoyed it as well. My boyfriend's friend's wife got the onigiri and liked them, although she mentioned she would've liked more filling as opposed to rice.

It really reminded me of when we went to Japan!

I would absolutely love to come by a second time and get the full uni omakase course.

Uni course for two $200

Japanese uni came in full piece but BC uni is the chopped up ones that you can get a full box from Paladin for $40. None of the courses really featured uni. More like a few scattered pieces with other flavor overpowering it.

The fried lobster tail with uni tartar sauce is the most random dish out of all. The lobster is overcooked and the fries are drown in grease.

Service-wise, both servers were friendly, but the restaurant rushed each course while there's no space on the table. The servers stood at our table with the next dish and expected us to make space every time while we were eating. It seems like they were never trained on timing and how to handle multiple courses.

If you charge $100 each, then it needs to live up to the standard at that price. Not recommending anyone to try this uni course.
