We are in Vancouver for the month of June every year and this is our go to Greek restaurant. The ambiance, food and service is always outstanding.
Very disappointing. Ordered the beef souvlaki today for take out. It wasn't cooked well and frankly didn't taste like Greek food at all.
I’m not Greek and this was my first time trying real Greek food — and I’m so glad I chose Takis Taverna. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and even though it was busy, the staff took great care of us and made me feel completely at ease as a first-timer.
I tried the moussaka and dolmades, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. Everything tasted homemade and full of flavor. I didn’t expect to love it this much, but now I find myself already planning my next visit.
Takis made me a Greek food fan in one night. Highly recommend to anyone curious or trying Greek cuisine for the first time!
Our first mistake was entering the restaurant as the only customers at 630. Menus are dirty and old.
We ordered avgolemeno soup that seemed microwaved at best with oddly mismatched plate and bowl. Greek salad was ok, but straight vinegar. Was abit intense.we ordered the hot appetizer for two. Spanikopita was soggy and tasted of freezer, dolmades was all leaf. Very tough. Sauce was just unappetizing. Calamari was so bad, fishy , in a bad way, and tough. No effort to make it look appetizing at all. Lamb meatballs had ok flavor but tough outside. Server was ok. But was quick to let us know that she started at 5pm and couldn't say why the food was not good. We ordered wine, but there wasn't any. Ordered bottled beer and we never saw the bottles, we just got two glasses of beer, might have been what we ordered, not sure. Ordered an appetizer to share but no small plates were brought for us to use. I grabbed fresh cutlery from another table. I think everything we ordered was frozen , nuked and deep fried. We have eaten here before when it was good, but it was so bad we will not go back. Do not go there. We paid full price for bad meal and mediocre service. Now we are cooking dinner as so much was inedible. Taki's do better or shut your doors!
Mahi accommodated us even though it was closing time
She even offered that coffee was still available
Very patient and professional
Have not been there in a while so went but was shocked to see how they have reduced the portions. Sadly no longer a good value. Appetizers come with one Pita cut in 4 and Hot Menzies platter extremely
Small for the price.
I tried to order a pork souvlaki, they didn't have, they I wanted a calamari dinner, they didn’t have, so I ordered a Prawn dinner and I just got 6 prawns, but the flavours were nice. Not a nice service.
Ordered skip the dishes. $135 meal for 4. Brought me leg of lamb instead of lamb chops and when I called they tried to convince me that's how it's prepared. I told them that might work on someone else but you have rack, leg and chops as 3 separate items. They wouldn't do anything. Took one bite of the leg, was disgusting rubbery lamb. Rice and potatoes drier than the Nevada desert. Family has the same comments about their meal. Take it from someone who is Greek and has ordered from many Greek restaurants, stay away from this place. Horrible food & customer service.
Ordered tonight, lamb was all fat, disgusting. Salad was wilted lettuce, order in total $80. Will never order from them, also delivery took 2 hours
If you liked the old Takis, avoid eating here now. Flavorless, undercooked and cold food. No lemons on the side of the seafood or the saganaki. The side of tzatziki that is customary with all Greek dishes was extra and had an odd jelly-like consistency. Simply disappointing. $100 that no one is giving me back. Politely provided feedback and the only one who apologized was the server who isn’t responsible for quality control.

Since I came for an early dinner and was alone, I had my pick of tables. Sweet little table, overlooking Davie Street. I've been looking at their menu for five years, but never stopped. I had the Moussaka dinner and wine. While waiting, a basket of warm flatbread came to the table. It was good on this cold night. The Moussaka was excellent, with delicate fluffiness and subtle beef. The eggplant was perfect: thin, chared and flavorful. The wine was good. The careful amount of attention by server was appreciated as I wanted to be mostly left alone. This is really a very sweet dining experience for me.

The last order was not great. Either there was a change of ownership or the food was made completely by a different chefs now. The lamb shoulder was just terrible that has a fat chunk on it that was solid and isn't tender like what it used to like before. The moussaka the tomato sauce taste like dollar store sauce with bachemal sauce that taste like slop. Really want to love it but it's was so bad it leaves an impression (IN A VERY BAD WAY)

Really good food! Like, really really good.
The person that served us was really nice.
Even trying to be picky I have no complains.
Decoration of the place was nice.
Prices were also good, not necessarily cheap but they served a lot of food, so it's a really good price.
