Tentatsu Japanese Sushi Restaurant

My friend brought me as my first real time in a sushi restaurant.

We tried several different options to get a taste for what I like. The service was great! Attentive and quick we really didn’t wait or want for anything. The food came out quickly and was delicious. I look forward to trying more in the future.

Everything was so delicious
Me and my bf enjoyed every bite and have no regrets whatsoever. The portions were well sized and the fish was incredibly fresh

We tried this place recently and really enjoyed it. The fish tasted fresh and the rolls were well put together. The staff were welcoming, the prices felt fair for the quality. We’ll definitely be coming back whenever we’re in the mood for sushi.

I wanted red tuna. What I got was salmon sashimi, not red tuna

Salmon oshi is pretty good, slices on the thick side but it's a bit too much sauce making it too creamy. Tuna oshi is a bit better in my option but the slices are a bit thin. The tentatsu roll is pretty good nothing out of the ordinary tho, although the thin slices of pepper? on top isnt really my thing. Then there's the ocean roll, flavor wise its my favorite but the combination of the spicy tuna on top and avocado inside make the roll really mushy when eating it whole, still, it's pretty good. The spicy salmon sashimi is not bad the sizes of the cuts are good but it could have used more sauce, and as an extra, the small size is pretty small. Lastly the takoyaki is ok also nothing out of the ordinary.

I've been a customer of Tentatsu Vancouver for over 20 years. However, new ownership has taken place at this location around 2023, the quality of sushi, portion size, and pricing has suffered.

I refuse to continue to support this location because of these changes made. instead, I now go out of my way to frequent the Tentatsu Burnaby location that is run by the original owner who used to run this Vancouver location. The price, the quality and its portion size remains the same as before.

This tentatsu location has had a nice renovation, they have different rolls, and cooked items. However, I remembered it being cheaper in the past, the rolls are also a little smaller. It still tastes identical to what I had years ago. If you're in the area and want to try sushi you can give them a try.
