I ordered Pad Thai for pick up and it tasted like it was smothered in red sweet chili sauce.....definitely is not something I will get again. I thought a Pad Thai should have tamarind sauce? Also there was no egg and hardly any crushed cashews. Very disappointing for 19 dollars. I got a coke as well which brought me up to 24 bucks for a meal I didn't even like :(

I've wanted to try this place for years as I've always read glorious reviews and finally had the opportunity to go yesterday, as I was starving and passed by. What a disappointment! The food is bland and clearly lacks taste. The fried chicken didn't taste fresh and had 0 seasoning, just salt. The only thing I could taste was the dipping sauce. The positive point is that it wasn't greasy. The pad Thai just had the sweet taste of the sauce but I couldn't taste the wok hey. Too bad as it is the main reason why I order pad thai... Cost me $40 for what you see in the picture, which is way overpriced for the quality. Also a note that you have to pay before eating, which makes it weird for the tipping as I usually tip depending on the service I received but in that case you have to get up, order, may and then return to your seat... Also I asked ice-cold water and was given ambient temperature water. However next table ordered a pop and they had the right to have ice cubes...

It's been a few years since I've travelled to Thailand and I genuinely felt like I was back when I ate here. The food is very authentic and the portion sizes are very generous for the price!!
Highly recommend getting here early (even on weeknights) if you're planning to dine-in for dinner. We showed up for a table for 2 at 6pm and got the last table on a weeknight.
They also have a lovely patio if you want to enjoy some Cambie Street vibes. Highly recommend and would definitely come back again!

Thai Away Home is a staple takeout option in my rotation. They have one of the best deals in the city which includes crispy veggie wontons, salad, noodles, curry, coconut rice, and hot and sour soup broth for $50. Portions are HUGE and my boyfriend and I are usually left with enough leftovers for the next day. We always get the same—tofu pad Thai, red curry with chicken (both medium spice). Truthfully, I have never dined in but service staff always greet you with a smile and I’ve never waited more than 30 minutes from the time I’ve ordered to when I’ve picked up!

Prices are a bit higher than expected, but the experience is absolutely worth it. The waiter’s service was great and the attention was excellent. My partner and I ordered the combo for two, which came with plenty of food — even enough to take some home. The big surprise of the night was the hot soup: I wish I had a mirror to see my own reaction when I tasted it — it’s out of this world! An incredible flavor that alone would make me come back. The rest of the dishes were also very enjoyable; none reached the level of the soup, but they were never disappointing. Everything was tasty and well-prepared. Definitely an experience worth repeating.
