I recently visited The Basic on Main Street in Vancouver with my best friend and my two kids, and we had such a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, and gives off a really wholesome family vibe — perfect for a relaxed meal out. I ordered the veggie hash, which was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. The kids loved their pancakes, and my daughter was thrilled with her hot chocolate topped with whipped cream (a big hit!). Our server, Jesse, was fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome throughout the meal.
Overall, great food, great service, and great vibes. We’ll definitely be back!

The food was true to the name—simple and straightforward. It was a bit too oily for my taste, but definitely filling. If you're really hungry or enjoy heavily fried food, this might be the place for you. We tried a few of the recommended dishes. The staff were pleasant and respectful throughout.
