Awesome spot! In a city of pretentious breakfast places, this place really lives up to its name and serves great, simple breakfast at a fair price. The service is always so kind and the food comes out quick. Especially happy that I can have beyond meat breakfast sausage with my breakfast, which is something I’ve missed since being a vegetarian. 10/10!

I recently visited The Basic on Main Street in Vancouver with my best friend and my two kids, and we had such a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, and gives off a really wholesome family vibe — perfect for a relaxed meal out. I ordered the veggie hash, which was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. The kids loved their pancakes, and my daughter was thrilled with her hot chocolate topped with whipped cream (a big hit!). Our server, Jesse, was fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome throughout the meal.
Overall, great food, great service, and great vibes. We’ll definitely be back!

The food at The Basic is very high class. It is tasty with huge portions. My special friend, Jeremy, introduced me to this restaurant and since then I go often. My favorite is the eggs benedict with potatoe tots and coffee. Today I had French toast with eggs, sausages, and bacon. Plus coffee.

Our first morning here in Vancouver. We'd come from another Diner which was having an inspection and couldn't serve us. A quick Google search led us to The Basic where we had the BEST Breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and presented with love and pride. You can see that it's a very popular spot with the locals too as it was busy throughout our time there but nothing seemed to be too much for the staff. We were served by Julia who is simply adorable and very attentive to all she interacts with. We'll definitely be back at The Basic before we head out of the city. 😊
