Everything was absolutely great! Surprisingly, even with a bottle of wine, appiess, and two full meals, the price was remarkably inexpensive. Frequently dining out downtown, I can safely say that the bill would've been 50% more at any other establishment. Was sad to see that the - adult only - Keg lounge, across the breezeway, it's no longer an adult lounge.
It was a business dinner and it was delicious and indulgent. Definitely enjoyed this Keg location a lot. I had Chicago style medium rare sirloin with a lobster tail as a main with extra veg. Appy was the Neptune to start. The old fashioned was perfect and the crème brûlée was evil good as always!
Everything was amazing, our server was just adorable, food was yummy and we had a great time
Table next to family with 2 crying babies, food was very slow, complained and they said they would expedite (45 mins).. filet cooked well, prime rib was two thin slices, both raw... ordered medium well..
Food and drinks were good but the service was off. Maybe they were short staffed? Had our server been more attentive we both would have ordered another cocktail. Usually The Keg is reliably great so it was disappointing last night.
We love The Keg & have enjoyed it for years with the family! This visit was a little disappointing in terms of service & quality of food. That being said, the manager was quick to address the issue & made things right! We will be back! :-)
There's something about the The Keg Alberni that always makes us feel welcome. The service is number one, outstanding and they are always very accommodating with my dietary needs. Food is delicious and the wine selection is diverse. Thank you to the staff for keeping it real with us diners!
Our server Brendan was awesome. Had some laughs, he was attentive but not overly. Checked on us without interfering and made us feel welcome even though we just came for HH and not a full dinner. The only downside was the buns you are now using for the sliders. Prefer the old ones. These ones are heavier in the tummy and not as flavourful.
Wait for food was too long. The table next to its ordered after us but got the meals before we did. We mentioned it to our waitress and her response was “oh really”. She didn't seem to care too much and kept dropping everything as she was trying to clear the table. Not the regular standard keg experience we are accustomed to.
Was not the steak I order! But manager take care of me after, really appreciate and good customer service on the spot! Thanks

Our server was lovely and was pretty quick with the drinks. Super friendly, actually everyone from the those at the hostess stand to our server and even another one a ver nice gentleman who stopped by to check in. The food was great. I have waited so long to try the bisque. The flavour was excellent but I found it a bit too thick. Had a chowder consistency. The filet was cooked perfectly but I found the bacon was either charred or undercooked wrapped around. Nothing wrong with the flavour! There's a reason why this place has been one of my favourite restaurants since I was a kid!
The Keg Steakhouse + Bar – Alberni – 5/5 Stars
Fantastic experience! The service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and professional from start to finish. The highlight of the night was definitely the ribeye steak 🥩—cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. Great atmosphere, great food, and great staff. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for a quality steak dinner!
Such slow service, food took an hour to come out. Slow, slow, slow!!!
Terrible customer service. I arrived and asked to be seated, solo diner. Was told to follow the hostess inside and was sat in a dark waiting area. Hostess disappeared - nobody asked for my name, nor did they inform me of how long the wait would be. Hostess came back after some time to call another guest who was waiting - the guest asked if I should be seated since I was waiting. I asked the hostess how long the wait would be and was dismissed and told shouldn't be long.
I decided to leave as I was ignored, and as I asked on my way out, how long the wait would be was told shouldn't be long.
I did inform the hostess that since nobody's told me anything I'd be leaving.
Disappointing experience.
I usually love The Keg, it’s my go-to place for birthdays and special occasions, and I’ve always had amazing experiences. Unfortunately, this visit was an exception.
While our server was very kind and courteous, the service overall was extremely slow. It took about an hour just to receive bread and drinks, and another hour to get our mains, a total of nearly two hours from the time we were seated. We arrived at 6:30 PM and didn’t leave until around 9:20 PM, and only after I went inside (we were seated on the patio) to ask for the bill again.
What made the situation worse was the attitude of the hostess, who rolled her eyes when we politely asked if there was an issue in the kitchen, a reasonable question given the wait time, especially on a weekday when the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy.
To their credit, the manager came over, apologized for the delay, and explained that our server was new. They also waived the bill, which I appreciated. I still tipped the server, as she was doing her best and was very sweet, I understand that everyone has to start somewhere.
That said, waiting three hours for a meal is excessive, and I hope this was a one-off situation. I’ll definitely give The Keg another chance, but this visit was disappointing.
