Amazing and Adorable little place. absolute gem. The Food was amazing and flavorful. We got the Jerk Chicken and Oxbone stew. Jerk chicken was amazingly tender and a mouthful of spices. Oxbone was soft and perfect as well. The jamaican patty is a must try. Owner was extremely kind and patient. Everybody that worked/was there was extremely nice and easy going. Delightful decoration as well, it’s good and nice to stay to eat in however we chose to take the food out to a nearby park to eat

Wow. I think this is the first 1 star review I ever wanted to leave for an establishment.The woman serving us (who I believed was the owner) was shockingly rude, something I’ve never experienced to that degree before.As soon as we sat down and before we could even open our mouths she was radiating such intense anger our way, very much lashing out. I think we sat there for a total of 5mins before we all agreed to leave, that’s how uncomfortable and anxious we all felt. And after that, she still had the nerve to walk out after us and ask us if she was being rude and why we were leaving??I understand we all have rough days, especially working in the food service industry, but you never know what someone else is going through. So, to be that hateful to your customers for no other reason than them just existing is wild to me.The food looked amazing, but the service will definitely ruin your day.

Disappointing flavour. There is nothing carribbean about this cooking. I wanted to like this place, I had it saved on my list for a long time. Its a kind of fusion between cajun and carribbean. I respect the hustle of the owners who have been at it for many years but if people are waiting over an hour for a simple dish then you need to hire some help in the kitchen. Over 30 minutes before we received an ordered coffee. Oxtail didn't have the distinct flavour and it came with no sauce, curry chicken although cooked perfectly had no real flavour just heat from habaneros.

I am beyond disappointed in my experience at this restaurant. I came in after work around 4:15-4:30 looking for a place to sit down, have a cup of coffee and get some work done on my laptop for around 45 minutes as I had to make an appointment later that afternoon. I had already been to a cafe nearby that did not have any outlets, so I walked in to ask the employees there if I was able to use their outlets while I had a cup of coffee.The first thing that the employee working there said to me was "you know its common sense to close the door behind you". Shocked, I apologized and looked back to realize that I had left the door about an inch open.When I explained to the woman there that I wanted to use the outlets while I had a drink she replied with "You know its a restaurant not a cafe right". Again, shocked that someone was so openly rude, so I told her that if she didn't want my business to just say so. She claimed that I misunderstood her and and its fine, which at that point I told her that its okay, and that the entire interaction was so uncomfortable that I'd be going somewhere else.I am shocked that someone would be so blatantly rude. For context, there was not a single other person in the restaurant, and I asked about the outlets before I attempted to sit at a table.It is very disappointing as I would have loved to try the food there, I work in the area and am always by their restaurant, which funny enough, is ACTUALLY A CAFE, not a restaurant. The literal name of this place is the lion's den cafe. I don't know if this woman's attitude towards me was because of my race, gender, appearance or what, but this was by far the most appalling behavior I have experienced in a very long time.

Just re-discovered this gem of a place owned by the loveliest couple and managed almost single-handedly! The food is always terrific and amazingly cheap. Sure you might have to wait a bit but the vibes are immaculate and you can't help but smile because of the friendliest service around! So genuine and so worth the visit!

If there is any small family owned business you should be supporting, it’s THIS one! My boyfriend and I had the most pleasurable experience. The Lions Den is filled with culture, good vibes, amazing food, and some of the most fun, personable staff we’ve ever experienced in Van. We moved to Van from Toronto and can confidently say the Lions Den had the best patties we have ever had. We can’t wait to come back!

We had a very great first experience with the Lion’s Den Cafe. Absolutely loved interacting with the wonderful owners and we have a great respect for all of the history of this restaurant. There are very limited Caribbean spots to eat in Vancouver so I am glad to have found a place as great as this. Thank you to the hard working staff, we really enjoyed the food and will be back again and again.
