Beware of the bartenders - specifically this one man who was working on the bottom floor with darker hair. He automatically tipped himself and when I asked for my receipt, he scrambled around, tried to ignore me and in the end did provide one as he knew he would be caught. Absolutely shameful behaviour trying to cheat people who he thinks are drunk. In fact, all the staff care about there is how much you can pay because the only way you can get in is by shelling out $200 to the bouncers. It doesn't matter how many hours you wait in line, you will end up having to pay to get in. The staff ruins the overall experience and reputation of a pretty fun bar in Gastown. Probably won't continue to recommend this place to others as it is not worth this kind of treatment.

Avi the bouncer was amazing, I had to take a moment and step out of the line to gather myself and told him I was feeling overwhelmed and he was super understanding and remembered my name when I came back. Thanks so much Avi!!! :)))

Honestly one of my favourite places to go for the weekend with friends, once you’re in, it’s always enjoyable. The problem is getting in. Doesn’t matter if you’re guest list or not, Mainly the dirty blond bouncer will take bribes and let in dozens of people before you get in (the shorter stature man with dyed hair is also complicit). Zero integrity with the bouncers here which is a shame, as the actual quality of Portside itself is so good. Before you’re even able to get close to entering, the bouncers will ruin any good feelings you have. This review is not meant to rant about bouncers doing their job and keeping things in order. It’s about bouncers stooping so low and ruining other patrons fun for quick money. Standing in line for over an hour thirty and watching people pay $20 bribe EACH, on top of $12 cover to get ahead of you, is infuriating and insulting. Please do better with the choice of bouncers.

Normally I really enjoy Portside but last night was awful. We went outside for fresh air at around 11:15 and when we showed our stamps to get back inside they told us we had to wait in line but it would “move quickly”. We waited about 20 mins and the line did not move. We decided it was not worth it and had to get the security to get our coats then we ordered an Uber. 20 mins later when our Uber got there our friends were still waiting in the line to get back in. To wait 40 mins to get back into a place I already paid cover for is unacceptable and I’ve never experienced that anywhere else. Definitely won’t be returning and I wish I asked for my money back

The dingiest nastiest club in Vancouver. Guest list is fake be prepared to wait 2+ hours in line. Go here if you want to feel like you’re clubbing in a frat house, but be warned, your average frat bro can mix better songs than their DJs. Keep your $15 and go to a real club.

A decent place to get a drink or two has a east coast vibe with live music...after 930 a DJ takes

Great time had by our entire group on Saturday night once we passed the front doors. This is the biggest downfall of this place is the bouncers that are outside. We were on guest list and still waited 45 mins to an hour while the main bouncer would take cash from others wanting to skip the line. Not saying l never pull stuff like this but getting to see this while we waited in the guest list line was not cool. Also was informed that 2 of my friends went outside for a quick smoke break and were told to wait in the guest list line after already receiving stamps and having coat check stickers. Once again Great time had once we were inside but holy smokes the bouncers outside make it tough to wanna wait and not just go somewhere else

Great place to meet others, listen to great live music and DJs as well as play pool. The employees here have been tremendously welcoming and I've always felt comfortable here. Definitely for the later nightlife more tuned to a younger crowd, but there are still nights where millennials and older can come and have fun like their karaoke night. It's also situated near a bunch of other great venues so as long as you have a stamp you can crawl gastown and have a fun experience. It is by far my favorite place to go to and I'm incredibly picky.Parking: Come after 10 and street parking is free, otherwise convenient garage a block up gastown. Otherwise taxis and Ubers are constantly circling to pick up bar patrons.Kid-friendliness: It's a bar.Wheelchair accessibility: I can't imagine this place is wheelchair accessible. It's one weakness. 3 tiers of stairs to access the space. Historic buildings aren't very accommodating. Bathrooms would be if it weren't again for the stairs.
