We are visiting from Winnipeg and Tom sushi was recommended to us from friends that travelled to Vancouver. Safe to say this is one of the best sushi restaurant I've been to. It gets busy so we were told 1hr wait, but got a text after 30mins. Service great, food is great. Going to miss Tom sushi and the loin cheese Katsu!

7pm on a Sunday dinner meant a 1 hour wait. But liked the food so much I came back the next day, for late lunch at 3pm on Monday and there was no wait, though there was 80% occupancy.

Skip the dons, skip the aburi (it’s like any other Vancouver sushi restaurant), and skip the combos/rolls. The nigiri was very good which was why we came back to get more.

My rank from most liked to least:
- salmon belly
- amaebi (sweet shrimp)
- ika (squid)
- salmon
- shima-aji (striped jack)
- toro (tuna belly)
- tobiko with quail egg
- hotate (whole scallop)
- duck egg w tobiko
- tako (octopus) < I’d avoid this one, was flavorless and very chewy

The hako sushi is very similar to many other Vancouver sushi restaurants. The salmon amaebi don tasted very salty and the salmon was like Hawaiian poke. I’d skip that too. The Alaska combo was ok, filling but nothing very notable. I recommend getting things that makes the wait worthwhile

I had dinner there after waiting for over an hour. The sushi itself was pretty average—most of the rolls had barely any fish or filling, so I guess that explains the decent pricing. Also, I felt like the servers were rushing me to finish my meal, which didn’t make for a great dining experience.

Just wanted to share my thoughts after having dinner at Tom sushi. Honestly, I think the place is overrated. The food and pricing are decent, which probably explains why this restaurant is more popular in the area. That said, the service was lacking. I felt rushed by the servers throughout the meal, and it really took away from the experience. Overall, it wasn’t enjoyable, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

We had lunch at Tom Sushi while visiting Vancouver and absolutely loved it! Arrived right after opening at noon and there was no wait.

Everything we tried—beef teriyaki, tempura, and their signature rolls—was delicious. The sushi is not only fresh but also creative, with flavors and textures that really stand out.

The portions were fairly priced, especially considering the quality, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. We also appreciated the attentive service—our green tea was always topped up throughout the meal, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Definitely worth the visit!

Overrated. Not sure what the hype is. It’s slightly above average.

Great spot for high quality and affordable sushi on Davie. Can get pretty busy during peak hours. The sushi platters have a good assortment of options and the katsu don had some nice glass noodles in it. Service is great and we’re refilling our tea all night. Overall great experience.

The wait was 2 hrs. They did say 90 min which is ridiculous. A lot of good that we wanted was no longer available by the time we sat. Too small for dining in. The staff were not as attentive and made several mistakes (I think because of how busy it is) but fixed it and were very professional.

We had to try three times before we could get a table to eat at the restaurant. Small restaurant with limited seating and they dont take reservations. It was worth the effort.

We had endamame, potato croquete, assorted tempura, scallops, and various sushi. all the food was delicious and one of the freshest sushi we've ever had.

This spot I found recommended on tiktok and WOW. Win of the century! Everything was phenomenal but the star of the show is the tuna bomb! (spicy tuna crispy rice) You need to try it!

We came for dinner and the wait was an hour for our group size. We killed time by walking to Morton Park. The sushi was worth the wait. It was fresh and delicious. The service was incredible. I would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!
