The warayaki was actually amazing, you gotta try it. ALSO! Best tsukune I've ever had hands down. 10/10, staff was awesome, great drink selection, and they were playing Japanese post-rock/math rock on the stereo, including TOE!!! If you know, you know.

We had a 6:30pm reservation and weren’t told about any time limit when we arrived. Since the restaurant closes at 10:30pm, and google mention most guests staying 1.5-3 hours. And we didn’t expect any issue.
We ordered plenty of food and drinks and were sitting quietly, but after just about an hour we were suddenly told it was last call and asked to leave. Even though there were clearly empty tables, and other tables that arrived earlier than us didn’t seem to be asked the same.
This was especially confusing because we’ve been here multiple times before with reservations and have never been asked to leave early or given a time limit.
The food itself was good, but the lack of clear communication really took away from the experience. Being asked to leave so abruptly without any prior notice or explanation, felt quite dismissive. If there is a time limit or table policy, it should be clearly communicated upfront.
More than the time issue, it was the way this was handled that was disappointing. Clear and respectful communication is just as important as the food and unfortunately that part fell short this time.

Mindblowing. There's literally no place in the US that even comes close. Binge ate two nights in a row, and will definitely make the drive from Tacoma, again!!!
The saba with blue cheese sounds funny , but it's killer - it can't be missed! Shoma delivered genuine Japanese hospitality, which added to our awesome experience here.

Absolutely delicious, the omakase course was amazing.
Amazing as always, slimmed down zakushi menu with expanded sake and whiskey options. Always looking forward to the beautiful skewers

We celebrated our anniversary here by chance, without even making a reservation, and it turned out to be such a wonderful experience. The grilled skewers were perfectly cooked, and the hand rolls were absolutely delicious. The staff, though not very fluent in English, were warm, professional, and made us feel welcome. It was such a memorable evening — my only regret was not ordering another beer to enjoy with the food. We’ll definitely be back!

Best Service so far in all of the Japanese restaurants I’ve been to so far in Vancouver. A huge shout out to Hakura and all of the other amazing staffs! The salt on skewer could be a bit lighter. But overall, highly recommended, great restaurant!
