As a vegetarian eater, I broke it to try some fish and was not disappointed!
I am not a paid Toshi spokesperson or a bot. With that,Toshi is the best sushi I've ever had in my life! No joke, my wife and I are foodies and on a recent visit to Vancouver, we went to Toshi thanks to its' many positive reviews and inclusion in Lonely Planet's Vancouver guide. We were blown away by the:Quality of the food, the most expansive menu either of us had ever seen and the otherwordly customer service! I would take a train from the east coast to Vancouver to eat there.
I've been eating sushi for almost 30 years. I haven't been to Japan, but I've eaten it in California as well as across the east coast. A good friend lived in Japan and schooled me on what to get. Bottom line, the quality of the fish was litterally melt in your mouth. I had a Hokaido scallop. On the east coast, food from Hokaido is impossible to find. We also tried salmon cheeks a phenomenal seaweed roll I'd never heard of along with a fermented ginger appetizer that, yet again, I had never heard of. All of the maki was top notch, the rice and nori were perfect. The waitstaff magically appeared at every opportunity to help us select dishes and orchestrate the moving of multiple plates.Everyone was positive, professional and on point. Ate here last night and the food was great. Good prices and the fish was very fresh. Service could have been better though— employees were very distracted and kept forgetting about our table. Otherwise that, great place!
Amazing and authentic Japanese. We had the miso cod, tuna tataki, tempura shrimp, chicken skewers and unreal bbq salmon roll!!! The cod tuna tataki and bbq salmon rolls are must try’s! We went to Japan earlier this year and this is the best we’ve found. Even though we had the queue, it went down quickly and staff are super friendly. Worth the wait!!
Hands down my favorite sushi spot in Vancouver. If you're looking for fresh, quality sushi at a great price point, with good service this is it! They have a wall of features as well as their staple menu, which makes every visit unique and fun. It's always busy, so generally there is a bit of a wait but it is so worth it. This is a must try!
We visited on a Wednesday evening after work, and the restaurant was packed—with a 30-minute wait for a table.
We ordered the Spicy Combo (spicy tuna roll and spicy scallop roll), Philadelphia Roll, BBQ Sea Eel, Gindara (miso-baked black cod), Box Sushi, Fig & Yogurt Ice Cream, and Yuzu Green Apple Ice Cream.
The miso-baked black cod is a standout—it literally melts in your mouth. Incredibly tender with a delicate umami flavor, it’s a must-try. The BBQ sea eel, one of their specials, was also delicious. The house-made ice creams were smooth and flavorful. I especially loved the fig for its natural taste, while the Yuzu Green Apple had a bold, sour citrus punch—perfect for fans of tart desserts.
Everything else we ordered was decent, though slightly overpriced compared to other sushi spots.
fantastic food and great service!
the cleanest washroom I have ever seen inside the restaurant.
Our favourite Japanese restaurant for many years. Great food and always friendly service. I just wish it was a larger / more spacious restaurant.

I have no complaints about almost anything: great quality, excellent service, and a fantastic environment. The only downside is the portion sizes, which are quite small compared to the cost. The nigiri are about half the size of what you would find at other sushi restaurants. I prefer quality over quantity, but I usually feel satisfied with just one combo. Here, however, I need to order two to feel full.

Authentic Japanese restaurant run by Japanese (bonus for the service!) Dishes are Asian size, presented very delicate. They have daily specials off menu. Ingredients seem fresh, and limited.

My fave casual sushi spot in van, I went back twice my last visit! Super fresh high quality fish at reasonable prices and the sweetest staff, you can’t go wrong!
I love their seasonal menu as they have fish that are rare to come by (usually only at omakase). Still love the hamachi and blue fin OOtoro the best! Also love their hojicha ice cream. Can’t wait to be back :)

Very fast paced, small place, with lots of waiting time. They offer unique items on the menu which are worth trying.
I'd recommend for someone who is adventurous and wants to try something new but not a proper dining experience.
