Look I don't want to give any free stars here so I'm not. This is an honest 5 star review that yes, this place is worth it. It's worth 5 stars.

Great chimney cakes! But seems like they’re never opened. Tried going by a few different times when they were listed as opened.

What a gem. That good Transylvanian taste without the preaching and condescension. I new favorite of mine.

European Bakery in Vancouver BC Since 2008 We made a special trip to this bakery in Vancouver for their chimney cake. I fell in love with this treat the first time I had them in Ontario. It was love at first bite. I was hoping to find a bakery in this part of Canada to have the same experience. We arrived a little before 11:00a (time stated in Yelp). Unfortunately, the business hours on Yelp was incorrect! They actually opened at noon! The shop opened promptly at noon but the chimney cakes took another 30 mins to bake. We were on a time crunch since we still had to drive back to Seattle to fly back home. The bakery was located in a tiny courtyard and there was a community area with outdoor seating available. He finished packaging the chimney cakes. Only four could be made every 30-mins so I purchased all 4 that he made. They only made sweet kind, no savory. While it wasn't as nice as the one I had in Ontario it is still good. Kürtőskalács (chimney cake) is a spit cake specific to Hungarians from Transylvania.Review #3174

Edit: I've emailed, phoned and regularly checked the website and it still doesn't give reliable information as to when it's open. Disappointed because I only hear wonderful things about it.I don't think they are open anymore, correct me if I'm wrong but I think they just do the Christmas market. I contacted them last year to see what was going on and this is the perception I got. I would love them to be open again, the reviews are spectacular.

Sooooo good! The shop is small, and not a huge selection, but you can tell everything is made with really high quality ingredients. Prices are very reasonable, too.

Love the place! Came by on a visit to Vancouver and picked up 9 Kurtos for the road. Will come back again soon!

I ordered the tiramisu last week and was disappointed - the texture of this tiramisu reminded me more of those Chinese fruit cakes that are fluffy and airy. I was hoping for a bit runny and rich in flavour. Nice options at the shop though, I would go back and try their other desserts. One thing weird the guy that was serving me said was “...you can’t trust all of the reviews on google...” but the weird thing is the shop has lots of good reviews, which is what drove me to trying them out.

It's a shame it's closed now, they made the best cakes around.

Quite pleased. I liked the Krémes - a milky, delicate little cake. I finally stopped by this place after passing it in the street oh so many times, and frankly I had no idea what any of these cakes were. But my random choice was still good. I did not expect a pudding-like cake but it's very much to my taste. And the wobbling is cute. The inside of the store is a bit too warm for comfort, but thankfully it was a good day and there is plenty of seating outside. If I must critique, I would prefer to have a regular plate and cutlery for dine-in instead of plastic cutlery, as cutting into the bottom of the cake was a bit finicky. But I understand if that is too much trouble.I will be back earlier in the day for the chimney cake!

Best Romanian desserts on lower mainland

Have been attracted by these desserts for a while and finally got a chance to try some! Both Savarina and Sunshine Romania were extremely tasty (as they were not too sweet) and I just wished I had a bigger stomach to try other cakes… I love the cake of Savarina as it is really moist and the orange cream of Sunshine cake as it is so refreshing and unique. The chimney cake was tasty too but personally I am more a fan of the cream cakes. Cakes are in big portion and the prices are all reasonable. I definitely will go back to try their Profiterol cake and Tiramisu next time!!!
