This is amazing if you know nothing about European coffee culture. This is the issue with some coffee shops here: they think more is best. They extract too much or too little from the beans.

Absolutely incredible food. I kind of hate cafes in general so I was not prepared to be completely blown away by their chicken sandwich. Reasonable prices by Vancouver cafe standards. Really good gelato too.

Over priced.
The size of their to go coffee glasses are also smaller than any average coffee shops .
Price of small latte was $5 + if you go for medium / large the price difference was another Lonnie or so .
The coffee tasted just okay. Lattes were not appropriately warm.
I ordered a Large Cafe Mocha and it was average taste. Good that I asked the price difference when I ordered.

The expresso shot was light .
Mocha qty was less . Lesser than any average coffee shop.

Berry tart had a bad strawberry on it, ice cream waffle cone was stale. No apologies nor offering to exchange/refund. Not sure how this place has >4 stars, first and last visit for me.

My husband got me a good coffee here. Not as strong as my Dutch taste would love, but good enough 😉

Subs & pizza and a bar. Couldn't get into the popular seafood restaurant next door. About $20 each. Enjoyed the food and staff were efficient.

I found this place because I was looking for a dessert.
I opted for their Pistacchio cheesecake: to die for!
I'll be back to try other flavors (they have a few selection of cheesecakes and It's my fave dessert)

We found this cafe in the late afternoon of a Saturday. We needed an energy boost after walking around Granville Island. We go to Granville Island quite often, but we have never been to this side and have never noticed this cafe.

We ordered a coffee, a cookie and a tart. Everything tasted great, but they were priced towards the higher range.

The interior design looked good, too. However, towards the closing hours, the cafe might not look its best in terms of tidiness. There was a lady having a video cal behind me, and she was quite loud. She also played her hair at the same time, so much so that her hands touched my head a few times, which was quite annoying. Not the fault of the cafe, though. Perhaps if the chair was not placed so close to me, it could have helped.

In a higher end cafe like this, I did not expect people being loud like that. However, I am not a regular to cafes, so I do not have an idea of how people normally behave.

Atmosphere and ambience is nice, plenty of space indoor and outdoor, however I think staff needs to work on their attitude and behaviour. They barely smiled at us , asked us to leave patio earlier for no reason. Nutella cheesecake tastes super salty and I couldn't finish it . my latte mug wasn't clean

My wife and I stopped by Tru Cafe for the first time before heading to Granville Island, and we’re so glad we did! This cozy local spot has a great selection of homemade baked goods, mini cakes, and some of the most popular Gelato flavours, everything we tried was absolutely delicious.
The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the place was spotless, including the washrooms and seating area. It’s clear they take pride in maintaining a clean and inviting space.
I remember this location used to be a Starbucks, but I’m really happy to see it transformed into a locally owned café. Supporting local businesses like Tru Cafe is so important, and this one definitely deserves the support.
Whether you’re heading to Granville Island or wrapping up a long walk there, I highly recommend stopping by. There’s even a rooftop seating area if you want to relax outside and enjoy some fresh air. We'll definitely be back!
