Do not get the curry chicken wrap, tastes bad and overpriced. The banh mi is decent.

This wrap was unironically one of the best parts of visiting the botanical gardens.

Context: I was here recently for the VanDusen Festival of Lights 2023–2024.I went to order a 473-mL hot chocolate, only to realize how expensive it is, at $7; plus, the hot chocolate was just disposed from a bigger container, not freshly made in real-time. And, of course, they asked for a tip.

Although the garden entrance is not free, one can come there for free (albeit the price of a coffee) to study. At least, that what I did today, and it helped me tremendously in my focus and relaxation to have a beautiful sight, gardened with a fountain in front of me.+ the service team was so kind to let me study until the closing time! I was so focused I didn't notice, and they have been extremely gentle ;)

The desserts were terrible. This food definitely shouldn't be given to children.
Could be so much better with little thought and effort. Would never survive away from the traffic of the adjacent splendid gardens.

The food was stale and inedible. When I took it back to the counter I was offered a refund or replacement. I asked if there was anything fresh and was told 3 selections. I chose wraps that were horribly soggy. We threw out all three. It is so hard to believe that this café would sell such foul food. I will never go back even though we are members of the garden and it would be so lovely to have lunch there all the time.

Our sandwiches were inedible as the bread was rock hard stale. I took them back to the counter and was offered a refund or replacement. I asked if there was anything FRESH and was told A FEW OF THE SELECTION that were fresh and chose some. They were foul and soggy and we threw them out and survived on the snack that we had brought for my granddaughter. It was so incredibly disappointing and I will never go back there again even though we are members of Van Deusen and go to the garden often.

I’ve given this cafe a few tries as I’m a garden member and come here frequently. The quality was never great but today will be the last time ever I’ll eat or drink anything there. It’s insulting to the culinary senses. They don’t even bother trying past minimum.

Don't bother. This could be an upscale cafe, what with the setting, but instead is more like a cheap fast food option. The pulled pork sandwich wasn't bad, but the "carrot cake" (was it really?) was like sawdust. And to use paper and plastic plates and utensils exclusively? Shame.
