I have been a loyal customer of Upraising Breads Bakery for a long time, regularly visiting your establishment to purchase a dozen muffins each week for my employees. However, I feel compelled to share a concern regarding the sanitation practices I recently observed.
During my most recent visit, I noticed staff handling food items and packaging (such as lids and bags) immediately after handling loose change, without washing their hands or using hand sanitizer. While tongs were used at times, this inconsistent hygiene practice raises concerns about food safety.
I brought this issue to the attention of an employee, who seemed reluctant to address it and dismissed the use of hand sanitizer. When I escalated the matter to the manager(Rick), I was met with an unprofessional and dismissive attitude. Instead of addressing my concerns, the manager stated that staff cannot wash their hands after every cash-paying customer and appeared more focused on questioning my purchase.
As a loyal customer, I am disappointed by this response. Food safety and proper sanitation should always be a top priority, especially in a food service environment. I sincerely hope that you take this feedback seriously and provide additional training to your staff on maintaining proper hygiene practices.

Uprising is on the down hill, sadly. It used to be a favorite but their products have shrunk in size, prices have increased and our recent visit to purchase over $50 in Christmas treats was a great disappointment. Undercooked tart pastry, Belgian chocolate chip cookies with greatly reduced chocolate chips and shortbread with little flavor. Genuinely sad at these changes. We are searching for a new favorite bakery.

Delicious food and hot drinks (I've tried their giant brownies, chicken wraps, pumpkin cheesecake, mocha, chai, etc), beautiful cosy interior, (very warm, autumnal colours) plus whoever is in charge of the speaker has goated music taste (I was relaxing to Elliot Smith last time I was there). 10/10 will continue to drop by whenever I'm in the area and in need of a little treat
