We have been to Westward Ho many times over the years--it was always a good place to take elderly parents for a casual lunch or brunch and was generally of reasonable quality and pleasant service. Returning today for the first time in a couple of years however we were totally dismayed at the deterioration in both. Specifically, although we were seated at 1130 when it was almost empty the servers seemed disoriented in terms of who was covering which area. When this stabilized and we ordered things seemed to be improving but the food arrival and results were a disaster. 2/3 orders came together (same item) and the third was "I will be right back with your sandwich". This was followed by no further activity until I flagged down another server passing by and asked if there was a problem....he communicated with our server who then arrived another couple of minutes later with the last order. Note, we are talking a tuna sandwich with salad here folks, not chateaubriand! The menu description of the burgers was "bacon cheeseburger" so we were surprised to find no trace of the former on either of the 2 received. Not talking a small piece--there was NO bacon on the burger. By this time the fries were cold waiting for the sandwich so I didn't make a fuss as this would have complicated an already disastrous situation even further. We ate, flagged our server for the bill and finally received it some time later. (in her defence, they were getting busy by then but there were also additional staff arriving so it should not have taken as long as it did). When she brought the bill I commented on the lack of bacon and subsequently mentioned this to a manager as she arrived to clear the table when we were leaving: her response was that "the kitchen is really slammed at the moment" which was not the case when our food had arrived. She offered to make it better for next time but I informed her civilly that that was not necessary as there would not be a next time. All in all a very negative experience; the arrival of the new Wildlight Bar and Grill just a few hundred meters away will hopefully convince the UBC Golf Club to up their game at Westward Ho. Sadly, we won't be back to test this.

Nice place. Pricey but not excessive for a nice patio golf course. Great view overlooking a garden with a bridge and stream. My husband had a decent burger, I had a turkey BLT sandwich with wholegrain (nice touch), our friend who invited us had an avocado salad. Second time this year dining here. Only complaint is their lunch menu does not start until 2pm by then most people had left!?! There were several young ladies serving us but sometimes have to flag them down but once you got them, they were really friendly and even recommended dating apps for our friend. LoL ?

Dated interior, poor quality food, generic menu.Specifically, I had the fish tacos but the salsa wasn't strained. There was too much juice pouring out and it made all of the tortillas soggy and pretty gross.I really wish we stopped somewhere else on our way to the concert.

I went to this place with my family for lunch over the July long weekend. It's a bar with a decent kitchen for a quick meal. On that day, I order the Bacon Cheese Burger with a side salad. The burger tasted alright. The meat patty was thin (not 7 oz uncooked weight) and a bit over-cooked. The other ingredients are fresh and decent. The salad was good in taste but a bit more dressing would be better.Overall, my dish was ok and definitely not worth $21. I would rather have the dish served as a live BBQ with lower prices.

Amaazing food! The whole experience from start to finish is great waitress is always so friendly and kind, specially for my daughter. Her name is Chelsea. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food.

Great spot to sit outside and enjoy an amazing breakfast. Amazing omelet, still moist and not overcooked

Food and service were good. I can recommend the lettuce wraps with tofu. I haven't been here in a long time but I remember a sense of a nice atmosphere and decor. That was lacking today. The patio has such a nice view of the gardens but somehow still felt kinda blah. The interior needs sprucing up. The carpet is in rough shape. I wouldn't make a special trip out there for a meal again.

Well unfortunately I did not take photos of the food. But it was pretty average at best. I had the ham and cheese omelette. About 2 slices of ham, not cut up or anything and maybe 1.5 of a slice of cheese barely melted inside the omelette. The service was EXCELLENT. The server and the gentleman who took us to our seat. And the food came out fast. I haven’t eaten here in a long time, usually just a sandwich when I’m golfing (they’re great). I would not recommend this to be honest. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t that good. Very average. I will not be coming back to eat here again.
