Eating at Yuwa was a glorious dining experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in we were warmly welcomed and attentively cared for throughout our entire visit. Our server was so sweet, very knowledgeable and had glorious recommendations.
The sushi was bursting with flavour —reflecting both the freshness and skill. The dessert had layers of depth, making every bite intriguing.
If you get the chance to come to Yuwa I wouldn’t pass it up!
The food is really creative and tastes amazing. It was a little loud because it was Friday night, but I was really happy with the overall experience.
excellent food; average service. Chef has changed attitude from friendly and accommodating to sullen and borderline rude. But food is best in town.
We had an AMAZING dinner. The sashimi felt extremely fresh; I hate when sashimi feels like it was just defrosted, but it was nothing like that. Perfect temperature and consistency. The curry pork karaage had a fragrant flavour profile, which we enjoyed more than the traditional chicken karaage. I can’t even BEGIN to talk about the sablefish… the sauce is amazing, the fish is cooked perfectly, and the little bites on the side added delightful additional textures. Get it. You also can’t go wrong with the rolls. The hojicha crème brûlée is mind blowing, and we preferred it over the traditional type. The only underwhelming dish was the bluefin tuna yuzu kosho, which we felt lacked flavor/seasoning. Imagine 1cm cubes of tuna with pieces of avocado, and no other flavour. Ten cubes max (if that) in the whole dish. We wondered if someone forgot to put sauce on it. It also did not make us feel any more full, so we felt that it was a wasteful, sad use of $19. Other than that, the hotate nigiri felt fresh and decadent, the atmosphere was calm/clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We would dine here again.
Went here for Valentine’s Day! Loved the food and the service here. My favourite was the local uni nigiri and the salmon tartar 😍
Wish they had more set menus like in the past for specials days like v day and such. But still good either way.
Very good 👍 👏
My experience here was good yet was not exceeding my expectations. Portion was too small and four people ( 2 teenager girls and female) were not full with 300 cad.
What a great place! The wife doesn’t want to eat sushi again for a while because she wants to savour this memory. I understand what that Michelin plaque means now.
High quality tasty food with great presentation. Service is top notch. Space is a little small. Decor can be improved.

It is a really high end quality food Japanese restaurant. We have 5 dishes. All dishes give us a wow. Especially the rids. It is really a full taste of marinated wine, alcohol, and other ingredients. The meat so soft that actually felt like melted in my month.

I have recently visited Yuwa Japanese Restaurant, a Michelin-listed spot in Vancouver, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience with food and company with my godparents. The ambiance is a mix of homey and simple, though the seats could use some reupholstering as they were a bit saggy. However, this didn't detract from my experience.
The food was fresh and well-prepared. I particularly loved the uni sashimi, sablefish yuan yaki, and red wine miso stew. However, some dishes were average: the BC Dungeness crab roll was good but didn't stand out from ordinary crab rolls, the shiitake nikuzume was unremarkable, and the green salad was quite standard. The sockeye salmon sonshuzuke was too salty and lost its natural flavor.
The restaurant is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Arbutus with plenty of parking. The service was excellent, and despite a few average dishes, I plan to return to try more offerings and revisit my favorites.
