Decent food, not the greatest, not the worst. Was good atmosphere too catch up with a friend. I like that there's lunch specials. I would try it again.

So bad and rude service

A Shanghaiese restaurant has been around Broadway for a long while. Their Shanghai food is good, with a traditional taste but a bit salty. However, the service is not appropriate. The lunchtime was quite empty.

A reliable Shanghainese restaurant at the Westside of Vancouver. Authentic dishes. Prices are average

Wonder why some of my shanghainess friend recommend this place to me. Feels like i'm their lifelong enemy or sth.

Everything is pre cooked and just warmed up when you order. The xiaolongbao is definitely frozen and the soups/dishes don’t taste like authentic Shanghainese food.
I regret going here.

I've eaten here 3 times already invited by friends. And liked the quality and authenticity of the food. So brought my whole family for a normal family dinner gathering to see what my Shanghainese son-in-law thought of the food since his parents owned a well known Shanghainese restaurant in Vancouver for many years. We were quite surprised that we were practically the only table there on Sunday night... but totally enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and all their attention. The food was good except the smoked duck that was a bit fry and the size of the dish was really quite inadequate... felt like leftover. The service was good.

You really have to watch out when eating here if you don’t want to end up in the hospital. It’s pretty common to find nasty and dangerous stuff in the food—like these random brush pieces that clearly came from their cleaning tools. Finding something like that is shocking, but honestly, their attitude isn’t. They treat customers like enemies, which is probably why the brush ended up in the food in the first place.

The food here is pretty good. Unfortunately, everything else is not. The cleanliness of the place is gross. Dirty and sticky tables. Wiped with a dirty towel so everything smells like a old sock. Plates and bowls are visually still dirty. The service is lacking with pretty rude wait staff. Very unfortunate since the food itself is pretty good.

We came for lunch sometimes and also ordered party trays for gatherings. The food is decent and portions are big. Highly recommend

Great prices and great food on time
Z&W Shanghai kitchen brings shame to Shanghai cuisine.
Let me start by saying I am shanghainese, I brought my mom here to try their food because we were craving some good shanghainese food, and decided to try this place instead of our usual “Top Shanghai” or “Dong Tai Xiang” which are both 5 stars for my mom and I.
Upon ordering, the first tofu/veggie dish I was served a rock which I bit down on.
The spring rolls were shocking. We were served some Costco style spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce, this was the most disappointing thing I’ve ever seen.
Shanghainese spring rolls are filled with Napa cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, and some pork. Served with a side of Black Vinegar.
When I asked the server (older lady with green and gold glasses) if these were shanghainese spring rolls, she yelled at me in mandarin
“WHERE DOES IT SAY THEYRE SHANGHAINESE SPRING ROLLS? THE MENU JUST SAYS VEGGIE SPRING ROLLS”
She was rude, dismissive, and looked so miserable.
Correct me if I’m mistaken, if your restaurant’s name is “SHANGHAI KITCHEN” people coming here would be expecting SHANGHAI food.
Next onto the SHANGHAINESE WONTONS,
My god they were mushy and way overcooked.
We ate one bite of everything and left.
Currently going to another restaurant to have an actual dinner.
Worst food ever.
Massive black hair in my xiaolongbao. Uber told me to contact the restaurant. A rude lady answered telling me I didn’t order from her restaurant but rather “I ordered from uber”. I told her yes - uber facilitates orders and deliveries but the food comes from her restaurant and uber advised me to contact her the restaurant for food safety issues. She kept yelling “that is impossible”. I said okay - at this point I did not want new food, just an acceptance that someone on her team left a big long hair in my food and an acknowledgement about the food safety concern I raised. Instead she keep yelling and saying I was rude and uber made the food (????). Uber literally told me to contact the restaurant and I’m fairly certain uber doesn’t make food 😹. Such terrible service.
The food is terrible, way too oil and salty. The server is no where to be found when needed. Not recommended!
