My wife and I stopped by Royal Garden for dinner last night, and it turned our good day into a wonderful one. Our server, Kristin, was absolutely outstanding. She had several tables going at once but somehow managed to make each one feel like her only priority. At no point did we feel we were being rushed or like we had been forgotten. Every time we encountered her, a smile was on her face, and she consistently checked in just when we needed something.
It seems pretty rare these days to go out and find such an exceptional server, but Kristin really changed our view on that last night. She set the tone for the whole evening; she was attentive, kind, and completely on top of everything. Between the great food, the cozy atmosphere, and the level of care she showed, we were left talking about it all evening and even again today. She really allowed us to enjoy such an exceptional experience.
P.S. to the management team: you’ve found a gem with Kristin. People like her are the reason guests come back. She truly made our night. We will 100% be back again.
Edit: We’ve been back a couple of times since, and while the food has remained solid, the service experience has varied noticeably depending on the server. On one visit in particular, it was uncomfortable to watch what felt like overly harsh management interactions toward some staff. If that’s the environment they’re working in, they must be exceptionally well-paid...or exceptionally patient to put up with it. It really highlighted how much leadership impacts the overall guest experience.

The food was good and our server, I didn't catch her name. She is the one with straight brown hair, was excellent. She was attentive and friendly. I think she may have been Chinese, but either way, she clearly knew the food inside and out and made our meal that much better. Unfortunately, it was uncomfortable seeing the owners being rude to some of the staff, including our server. This definitely hurt the overall atmosphere. Strong service, but management needs some work.

The food was mediocre at best, but the service provided was definitely lacking. Our server with the curly hair showed little to no interest in our table. We had to wait far to long for simple things like drink refills and the bill, especially seeing as there were not many guests in house. The overall experience left us feeling pretty disappointing.

Royal Garden Restaurant does have good Chinese cuisine. I go regularly for their buffet.
The 2 stars is for their take-out orders, in particular their 3-5 courses for one person.
I ordered Almond Chicken, Steamed Vegetables and asked if I can switch out the Chop Suey for Rice Noodles and they said Yes.
I did not get the Rice Noodles, it was Chop Suey.
What is worse, is the serving size for the Almond Chicken (4 pieces) and the Steamed Vegetables (soup spoon amount).
I paid 24.15 for the 3 course take-out for one person and the serving sizes were very poor. For about 10.00 more, I could have had all I can eat at the buffet, instead I got a disappointment.
For 17.00, for 3 course meal at the Sizzling Wok, at the Village Green Mall Food Court, the serving sizes dwarf what Royal Garden gives.
Buffet is the only thing worth it, the take-out is atrocious for the price.
Honestly, this has been my go to Chinese food spot for a long time. It’s a staple for me. That said, I did reduce a star because lately my Monday or Tuesday takeout orders sometimes feel like reheats from the buffet rather than freshly made. I’d say about half the time it tastes freshly prepared, and the other half it seems like it’s been sitting.
The quality and flavour are still good, which is why I keep coming back. It might just be a matter of volume or how things are stocked early in the week, but tightening up the timing on freshness would make a big difference.
Still a solid spot overall, just hoping for a bit more consistency.
Buffet is where it's at 6/5 rating.

3 seniors, $31.00 each. (with no adjustment between adult and senior I might add) We were shown to a table, I had to grab a third chair from another table myself, we had time to get our food and eat before water showed up 5 min in. But that's it. 10 min later we were asked if we wanted a drink. Check your camera!
The person that showed us to our table barely spoke English. But the waiter did. Do not accuse me of calling a person of minority “disgusting” that's low. I am a person of minority. I called the bill disgusting so get your facts straight. But it is interesting that even though you took the time to check camera footage, you throw the blame at me? Did you hear your own waiter compare your restaurant and food to Macdonalds? But you couldn't hear that part right? Hmm... Maybe you should ask your family what was said instead of disrespecting my minority!!!
There was no beef, yet it is on the menu, and the buffet is quite limited and small. There were more deserts than food. $31.00 + tax for water and buffet only. Go anywhere else!
When I paid the bill the guy dismissed me completely and waved at me to go away. RUDE! He then accused me of being angry. I guess my minority is an angry liar. Awful place. Don't bother.

Most consistent Chinese food in town, and arguably the best.

Came as a group December 14 dinner. Our server was attentive and took good care of our large party. We ordered combos and alcoholic drinks all delicious. Ginger beef, sweet sour pork, chop suey, chow mein, almond chicken. Executed perfectly no errors.

Worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten - both of us up all night with stomach aches - it’s too bad as the room is lovely - if you go there don’t do the buffet - order a la carte. The squid was horrible - even the potstickers very little protein inside how can you screw those up unless you source the cheapest pre-made; ok to be fair - the broccoli was fine and that’s it!
