I have to tread softly when I write this review because I don't think I would normally eat vegan food when given the choice. Having said this, I had the opportunity to have a team lunch with my editors at Be Love yesterday and the impression this place made on me was positive overall. If you have to share a meal with a vegan friend, this place felt fairly survivable, though you might still feel a little hungry at the end.
For appetizers, I shared the Jenga (tofu fries) and Mezze (I couldn't help but notice that all of us stayed shy of the dips). For my main, I had the Karma Bowl with sauerkraut, kimchi, miso ginger sauce (again, I didn't end up doing much with it) and saffron basmati which looked much grainier than rice. For drinks, I shared a Creek & Gully apricot and apple cider. For dessert, we shared a Butternut Pumpkin Pie that had no pumpkin in it (this last part made me sad).
I appreciated very much that this restaurant had gender-neutral bathrooms. The service was friendly and helpful. Considering the very reasonable prices, the intentions of this restaurant seem noble but I ultimately thought that the food lacked any sort of real flavour and my belly felt very lonely.

We visited Be Love on a recommendation from my daughter’s friend and fell head over heels in love with this restaurant! The food is amazing and everything is gluten free vegan. Such a treat to be able to order anything from the menu and know it fits our dietary choices!
Our server was delightful, knowledgeable and honestly made great recommendations. I can’t wait to visit Victoria again - just to eat at Be Love!

Longest waiting time for food ever, serving the complimentary soup after seating for more than 30 min, being invisible for not so very sorry staff working at time. Got a lame response for asking reason, being dissapointed had to leave the place. Not recommended for the people of colour.

Just wanted to thank Dylan for amazing service, above & beyond what most restaurant employees would provide. He really went to town trying to craft a handle in a takeout bag for me which are basic paper grocery bags, not designed for carrying a heavy load of food back to your car when having to walk a distance.
The food here is amazing, very satisfying, and the huge paintings on the walls are incredible too. I intend on going back to take photos of these if they'll let me. Victoria is a city rife with restaurant & cafe disappointments. Inexcusable, really. Be Love breaks that mold & sets a new standard in this city for exceptional food & service. The macaroni & cheese with greens is amazing, as is the Moroccan salad, and the squash pie - similar to pumpkin pie. Try a cup of chai laced with chaga as well, topped off with some almond or oat milk & maple syrup. Served in huge cups. It's a beautiful thing on a cold, wet day. The fresh juice is super refreshing & can be ordered by the glass or the quart, provided in a reusable glass jar. Bit pricey, but very good.
One star off for the complimentary-broken-bum seating. Those chairs are brutal on the arse. A few paper-thin pads are provided, only for window seats mind you, and they are not sufficient by any stretch of the imagination even if you're fortunate enough to snag one. Really, really poor choice for chairs, gotta say. Splurge on some pads for your customers' backsides, management / owners. And keep those chair pads clean, please.
Lastly, please provide better takeaway bags. Paper bags with handles of some kind. Those standard paper grocery bags are really terrible to carry if walking, filled with a quart jar of juice & several takeout containers, which many people in this city are doing.
I will be back on my next trip to Victoria. Hopefully by then they will have sourced some good takeaway bags to match their stellar food.

Delightful place to go for a slightly fancier West Coast-style vegan meal. I love bringing non-vegan family and friends from out of town here to see the beautiful things this restaurant can do with planty ingredients. You can never go wrong with the mac, but the seasonal gnocchi and ramen are also glorious.

My first visit to Victoria and surprisingly not many vegan restaurants here. Be Love is a gem in this city. Welcoming, friendly staff and lovely ambiance. I had the warm beet salad which was beyond delicious and satisfying. Plan on going back again before I head home. You certainly do not have to be vegan or vegetarian to enjoy this establishment and its top notch food and service. Just fabulous!
