Boom + Batten Restaurant & Cafe

The host suggested I use an app when I asked for a taxi, I explained my reasoning and he made a snarky comment before finally complying. Also, maybe don't allow 10pm reservations when you close at 10pm. We arrived 30min early and we were hurried to order and leave.

View from the restaurant was great and food quality was awesome. staff was so friendly and professional. one small downside was waiting time was longer than we expected. We had a reservation at 6:15pm, and we arrived around 6:05pm. However the table was ready around 6:30pm. Overall we had a pleasant time there.

Boom and Batton is a beautiful establishment that we have visited on various occasions. Although the room itself stays consistently beautiful, the service does not. The quality of service differs greatly from one visit to the next. Four of us visited last night with intentions of celebrating a birthday. The waitress was pleasant but left us for large periods of time without checking in. A food quality check was not given, my dish was missing two ingredients which I eventually received after flagging down a different employee, our water glasses were empty on more than two occasions, second drinks were not offered with dinner abd lastly we were charged 7 dollars per person “for a cake cutting fee” to literally cut the small cake we brought to celebrate post dinner. All four of us worked for decades in the Victoria service industry, and although we had a great time with eachother during our visit at B and B, we left very disappointed with our overall experience.

We love coming here for steak dinners! We had arrived at 4:00. Not knowing that before 5 o'clock we couldn't order dinner was a downer, so we ordered some lunch menu items and a happy hour item. The appies were okay, and great. The broccolini was that of a half decent Chinese food restaurant and reminded me of a beef and broccoli dish, the chicken liver parfait was good but served with a fairly odd fruit relish and heavily olive oiled house made cracker. The burrata salad with the freshest of tomatoes and half of a cheese round was and is always awesome! Can we get the whole round?!?! Like earlier mentioned, the steaks here are top notch and the au jus/gravy is like no other. We ordered the fillet with mashed potatoes and green beans with a double side of the scallops, because they are always perfectly cooked/seasoned and are fair sized! On a previous occasion having dinner here (steak with scallops), the scallops were smaller and before they arrived at the table I was notified that we had been cooked one extra scallop to make up for it.

Great view and service for lunch. Oops, my glass of wine cost more than my lunch! Always a good experience.

Fantastic service and atmosphere, every time I've been here. Special shout out to hosts Sireena and Jelena who went the extra mile (literally ran after us) to help make our special evening even more so. It was the evening of our wedding anniversary and we decided to try our luck getting into B+B for dinner without a reservation (iykyk). Just as luck seemed to not be on our side and we were walking down the front steps, one of the lovely hosts ran after us to invite us back as another server had just arrived so their section was now available for seating. We had another superb visit to B+B, thanks largely to Sireena, Jelena and our talented server, who's name I sadly cannot recall at the moment.

This place has a good selection of GF options, as well as good wine list.

We visited this place during the happy hour. There was not many people there, which was nice.

Will be back again when we visit Victoria again

Very slow service on a Wednesday night. Seemed to be a lot of staff so not sure why I was there over 2 1/2 hours for a dinner for 4 people. Greeter was very rude and made us wait for our reservation table for 30 minutes. When a polity enquired with another person we were sat immediately and were told they had forgotten us. It was a very special occasion for my daughter’s 21st birthday before she goes back to university after the summer. Nice view , good food , long wait for service with no acknowledgement from the staff. We were the last to leave which should indicate something was a miss. Arrived at 735pm and left at gone 10 pm.

Excellent food, excellant drinks, and location is perfect. Particularly Simon was a fantastic staff member to be around and customer service was top notch, mixed with great music from a live dj.

Probably my favourite restaurant in Victoria.
Beautiful location, modern design, great scenery, decently priced foods, decent tasting food, it’s a great place to go to for any occasion!

My favourite dish is the elk carpaccio. Nice fresh meat with a good combination of ingredients.
Sablefish is also a good dish, as black cod texture is very tasty. I wanted a second dish of this actually.
Parmesan truffle fries were also delicious.
Risotto is okay, but it seems too sour for my taste, but maybe it’s supposed to be like that.
Grilled octopus had a bad burnt flavour, so I would stay away from it.
Thai curry mussels weren’t bad, but the curry needs more substance.

We had a great anniversary dinner at Boom and Batten. The view was incredible, food was delicious and they have great gluten free options.
Also there is free parking, which is always nice.
