Coffee was a disaster… one would think that a decent looking coffee shop and bakery downtown Victoria would have figured out the basics of pulling a shot and making a decent americano… but sadly no… I could see the bottom of my cup through my americano, it was so weak…. My wife’s was the same so not a one time user error…I was also expecting an assortment of several different baked goods made by an actual pastry chef or something… as one would expect from a bakery downtown Victoria… but the only option was a plain butter croissant… not trying to be mean… but very disappointing- I won’t be back.

Horrible espresso and terrible macchiato - both had no aroma and a very metallic taste. The service was okay, but the pastries didn't look good. After tasting the coffee we decided against ordering food. We always thought Bubby Rose was a good place. Today we went there for the first time and will definitely not go back a second time. Very disappointed.

I visited this morning. I knew the original owner and visited from early days on Cook Street. The new ownership is obvious. The quality is so poor. My lox and bagel was 2 days old. I had to ask. The bagel was so stale. The selection was really poor. The pictures in the window not representative of food inside. The dishwasher is broken. So nothing but deli paper for a plate. The bathroom is disgusting .The toilet does not flush. It is broken and well let's leave it at it had been used many, many times. The note on the toilet said pull handle up to flush. It just came off in my hand.Apparently it has been out of order a while. My grandaughter ate nothing.I won't return.Hopefully Health Board will look into the toilet issue not appropriate sanitary conditions for an eatery. The lady server was very kind, apolgetic, and helpful.

Lacking character and pride. Only one person working, out of stock of a lot of baked goods. Not what I used to remember bubbys to be.

Staff is very nice but I wish the brand would stop toting itself as having vegan options when it really has like maybe 3 things in total and they’re raw/just granola cookies. Honestly if you’re in the area, just go to the green cuisine cafe for actual vegan options.

What's happened to Bubby? This used to be a decent place to drop in for a caff fix while bopping around downtown. And last I remember the other locations seem to be functioning. The downtown one is suffering. Looks like it hasn't had a proper clean in some time...the soap dispenser in the washroom holds what possibly*was* soap, which has now been watered down so many times it's just pumping pure agua. The loan staffer working seemed to be trying, but he needs some more support to make this go in the right direction.

Super friendly counter service person! Milk steaming technique not great - when it’s screamy and whiny sounding, you can't froth the milk properly - it just makes hot milk, not sweet, creamy and voluptuous. Just some feedback. :)

Have been coming here for years to get the bubbymore and today it was half the size?? Really?

Decided to try the Avocado Melt, which was heated to a temperature reminiscent of a Tim Horton’s hot chocolate on the outer edges and relatively lukewarm in the middle. Staff was caught a bit off guard when I asked for a plate to eat it off of in the cafe. Not a ton of effort put into the upkeep/signage of the place but the prices are affordable and everyone was friendly.

Great food and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I really appreciate it. Also, their portuguese tarts are delicious!

I have tried to email this store, so this is on them. I'm Jewish. My grandmother was Bubby Rose and had to escape Eastern Europe to save herself and family from pogroms. And yet, very few Jewish items in this place. When the holidays roll around, Christmas. This may seem fussy, but I am reminded of it as I pass each location and am more just curious as - why? It feels wrong. That's just my take. Sorry for the impact on your stars, but I didn't get through any other way (email, instagram).

Most of the tables were dirty and it wasn't busy. The staff gave us the wrong item but it was warmed up and we didn't want it to get wasted.

I am low vision and wasn’t sure where I marked into. I asked the fellow if this was a café, and he said yes, he escorted me to a table and asked me if he could get me something. I said a cappuccino and he said yes I can make that for you. He bought it to me he said It’s a little hot. Would you like a sleeve and I said yes please. I hadn’t even thought about it and I said oh I guess I should pay and he said it’s on the House smiling face emoji very rare, that you get somebody so kind and caring and attentive to somebody who is legally blind. it was a very thoughtful and nice gesture. I recommend Bubby roses to everyone not just people with disabilities, but it was a fairly nice thing to do. Then I purchased a brownie chocolate chip cookie and a chocolate almond croissant. All were very good five stars.

Hands down the worst Portuguese custard tart I've ever eaten. Pastry was like a brick and custard had a chemical after taste. It was a crime to pastry and food in general. I've been to the Buuby Rose in Jsmes Bay before too and got a very dry scone. I'd say avoid this bakery in general. Seems like the baked goods are very low quality.
