Small and cozy family owned restaurant!
Food was tasty and fresh.
We could feel the essence of homemade food in every bite.
Service was exemplary.
The only drawback is options on menu are limited, as most of the items are made up of either pork or beef.

When I first walked in, the smell was a little off-putting. It smells like boiling meat, which makes sense given the steamed dumplings but the place could stand to be vented better.

I ordered pork dumplings and gimbap. Both were just okay. The pork dumplings were rather flavorless, in my opinion.

While the service was good, I did not enjoy listening to the male owner/manager? harsh critiques of the other servers.. there is a time and place for that and it is not in the middle of the restaurant in front of customers.

This restaurant makes good food but the service and restaurant atmosphere are so bad that I wouldn't ever come back.

The restaurant ventilation isn't good - it smelled like rotten meat right when coming in the front door. The server felt like he was rushing us the whole time and we felt like we were rushed to pay the bill the moment we finished our last bite. When ordering food, we noticed a very apparent note on the menu along the lines that "if you don't order enough food don't bother dining in" - pretty rude/weird. We tried ordering a kimchi as part of the food order and they said they didn't have any... for a Korean restuarant. Our whole table ordered tea but didn't realise that all you get for $3/person is a small cup with a tea bag in it. Server didn't offer any hot water refills throughout the meal. After our food order came, I asked for a side of gochujang sauce and was denied because I didn't order a bibimbap (I would have been willing to pay for a side of sauce but the second time I asked, the server just walked past and ignored me).

Dumplings were tiny for the cost and were okay. They didn't taste bad, they didn't taste really good. This poor rating was for subpar, mini dumplings that were too pricey for what I got. The dipping sauce was very good tho, but not worth$$$$

We visited Chubby Dumplings in Vancouver Island Chinatown. It was very good. The dumplings are what we locally call "Potstickers". I tried tackling Dumplings with chopsticks. Minimal success.

Reasonable prices, very friendly staff.

I dont even know where to start ...
A couple weeks ago my husband , myself and our 3 kiddos decided to try this place ... my husband went in and waited at the door ... the man that works there asks him for how many .. my husband says 5 . The guy quickly says we dont have a table for 5 turns around and keeps walking... my husband comes out and tells me the guy said no table for 5 so im a bit confused and go back inside and say is it that you can't accommodate 5 people or is it that there is no table available right now ? He says theres no table available right now i said well that is obviously expected and i would like to be added to the waitlist (wich was 15min! Like of course i was expecting a bit of a wait and had no problem at all to wait outside for a table...) anywais ... that gave me a bit of a bad vibe to begin with...customer service is very important to me ... especially the price that you pay to eat out!.
Anywais our table got ready we sat and ordered food , we got a couple thing on the menu and we got 4 orders of dumplings. They were amazing! The bill was over 100$ but our family really enjoyed them ! We couldn't wait to be back !
So fast forward to today....
Our kids are super excited to go back and so are we!
We go in , there's multiple tables available... we get seated and wait about 10 minutes ... i think it is the owner that came to our table to get our order , so we order the same thing as last time , 2 rice bulgogi and 4 orders of dumplings , now please take in consideration that there is signs on the table that mentions that they want you to order enough food for the table or if you just want to order a little bit to do take out as they want to keep the table for people that will eat enough ... soooooo ... i place the order and the lady looks at us and say oh , i have to go check and see if we have 4 orders of dumplings ... so we wait ... she comes back and say im sorry i cant sell you 4 orders for your table?!? So my husband and i are a bit confused... she says i only have 5 orders left and i cant sell 4 orders for one table ? I said ; well we are 5 people! You sold us this order 2 weeks ago??? So we stood up and said well we will go somewhere else then! And we left ! She said she was sorry but she couldnt sell them to us and only have one order left?!? Never in my 34 years of life seen anything like this lol? Refusing a customer an order because its too much??????? I have traveled everywhere ate a thousands different restaurent and never was i ever refused serviced because i wanted to order a "big" order for my family of 5 ..... i will never ever be back . They lost a good customer and i will make sure i tell the word to EVERYONE i know ! Shame on you for refusing service !!!!!!!!!!! If you had 5 orders left you sell them until youre sold out ! I am out of words disappointed disgusted and fustrated by the level of customer service . Will never ever ever be back . Shame on you for loosing over 100$ in sale plus tips!

It’s all freshly prepared and delicious. The space is small, but it adds to the authenticity of the atmosphere. If I’m ever back in Victoria, I will surely return!

Their dumplings were really good. Also ordered their Bulgogi but the meat was a bit tough and dry compared to what I've tried from another Korean restaurant. All in all, still a must try when you're in Downtown, Victoria.

Great korean restaurant. We had jjolmyun, mandookuk, shrimp mandu, tuna mayo gimbab. Best ever, even better than any other restaurants in Korea.

Can't go wrong in chinatown! but waiting almost an hour (clocked at 50m) for dumplings and getting scowled at by waitress and waiter for (politely!) not ordering a drink, and then paying for my meal (with a good tip!) puts a damper on it. I don't know what I did to tick off the folks here or if it even was the drink issue, I try hard to be a painless customer. The dumplings are soft, large, and tender but I just found their flavor too subtle - even for the cuisine. And for the keen, I'm tested covid negative so its not the decreased taste of covid infection unfortunately. Google made this menu sound far cheaper than it is so I felt it prudent to leave a review. Definately worth your patronage! absolutely worth the try and try again, I just found the food not worth the hype and the service unfortunate :(
