We came for the first time today. I brought my non speaking autistic child with me for a quick breakfast. We noticed there was a disability inclusion flag up at the till and the staff were very friendly upon greeting us. We ordered and because it was a little too crowded for my child’s needs, we sat in the nice open seating outdoors. Sadly, although I tipped, out of the three baristas standing behind the counter watching me with my child and his AAC and his eating, none were able to quickly pop out and place a coffee in front of us even upon seeing that I had my hands full. There was no line. Everyone was eating and two of the baristas were just standing looking at us outdoors making eye contact. I ended up having to leave our food outside grab our bags my child, his aac device and everything just to pickup my small cortado. Then not five minutes later, one of the baristos comes outside and does a kind of happy jig dance to his friends indoor and jumps to the side, proving that he in fact did have all the time in the world to help they just didn’t think to or actively chose not? I think to be fully inclusive you might understand that helping out a caregiver in this scenario, that is clearly doing the best they can to accommodate the situation would be a helping hand, especially when they have paid you. I enjoyed the coffee and he, the muffin but I think it would be helpful to be aware of the surroundings and recognize the struggle, especially help when you can. There’s a ways to go before this location is considered “inclusive”.

I absolutely loved my visit here. On our only rainy day during a recent vacation, we popped in for a hot drink. I ordered a Mocha and a Raspberry filled donut. Both were really good but the donut?! SO GOOD.
The service was warm and friendly. I think the person helping us really liked it when I described how I was going to smooth my donut right into my face. Lol. He laughed anyway...
This was a lovely local experience. Thank you!

I would like to recognize that two of the staff on were very helpful and the donuts were excellent. However... I was one of two people in line who had placed an order, both of us I believe had ordered 2 espresso drinks. It took the barista very nearly 15 minutes to make mine, because he was talking to 2 of his friends who were standing at the bar. It would have taken longer had not one of the other two staff saw this pace and began pulling shots for him. If I could have, I would have asked for my money back and gone elsewhere. Discovery is not Tim Hortons and for coffee and Donuts for me and my partner I paid over $25, including a generous tip and yet was treated like my patronage was worth very little. I will likely skip this place next time Im considering finding coffee in James Bay.

Well, to be honest, I was pissed off because I had gone there with my nephew and it was only 12 noon and they were out of donuts. So this café is known for its donuts and who is sold out of donuts at 12 noon? Management or owners should make enough donuts for an entire day, especially on a Saturday in a busy touristy area. This reflects poor management to me. The staff are OK but they give you this creepy feeling like you’re supposed to tip them after paying five or six dollars for a simple Cortado. And the coffee was bitter. No patio. Couple tables look at the park lot . Pathetic.
