the best place ever for a beer!
Gem of a spot. Dog friendly outside as long as your fur family behaves. Great beer. Good food. Venue is awesome, but the staff elevate the whole experience. One of my faves for sure.
I've always been a fan of the beer. Experienced the best service ever when I dropped in to fill some growlers during the recent long-weekend. Now a fan of the gin too (both!)
My wife and dogs have traveled annually to Victoria and have made our first stop Driftwood for years. We won’t any longer. The service has gone from friendly to rude, intentionally so. No business can survive, even with the best product, if the service is horrible. Management needs to step in with an intervention but first let me offer some free advice - if you hire staff without any people skills, they can never be placed in front of customers. I tried to order a Raised by Wolves IPA. I didn’t expect my server to have the same attitude. Manager, please take control before everyone heads for the exit.
Our hearts are broken. We’ve loved, and have been loved by, Driftwood for years, traveling here from California with our two little dogs. It’s always our first night’s stop and sometimes our last when we stay at Salish RV to enjoy Victoria. The welcome vibe has always been five star+., above and beyond service.
Tonight was a 180. Hospitality was nowhere to be found. No “welcome in” but instead “I guess I’ll have to get the key” to unlock a patio table. (Literally half the tables were locked for the night at 6 pm (closing time was 8:30). People come here not just for the beer, but for the atmosphere. There was none! No outdoor patio lights, tables locked up, waitress put out from the start. We know she was busy, but we were so jovial and even helped unlock the table cable. No rush we said. We were just looking for a fun first night in Victoria!! Nope. Now we’re longing for the old days and the lovely waitress who - if n every visit even when the place was jumping - took such good care of us (she’s the one who made the dog beds). We won’t be back. Life is too short. Tonight we left half a beer on the table, skipped the food and went back to our RV to have some soup and lick our wounds.
One of the best breweries in Canada hands down. If you get a chance to get Amber with the red hair as your server consider yourself lucky, she is just awesome. Would recommend this place to anyone. Fat tug IPA is top 2 IPAs in Canada. Amber, keep being you, you are a rockstar.
Beer, food, service was all good… but when the bill came I was charged $8 for each 13oz glass instead of the $6 as listed on the menu… the response as to why the extra charge was “it’s just not listed very well on the menu but they are $8 for those ones” pretty disappointing to have these be more expensive than listed.
Really love this place! Great beer, dog friendly patio, friendly service. We also love the food, but we’ve noticed the portions have gotten smaller (especially the Nam Jim wings. We only got 6 tiny wings this last time). I get food and labour costs are crazy high these days and businesses need to adapt, but it means we might not come as frequently as we used to for the food because it’s not great value for money.
Worth the trek out!
Exceeded our expectations. Created a lovely surprise flight of craft beers. Also the service they provide to dogs on their patio is unmatched. A fresh bowl of water, free bully stick AND blanket which our waitress, Amber, handmade. Can’t say enough good things about this brewery. Highly highly recommend. PS their bao buns are mouth watering good!

The GOAT brewery of Victoria. Pale Ale, Raised by Wolves, Naughty Hildegard and last but not least Fat Tug are all legendary brews. Not to mention the very friendly and personable staff. I implore you to drop by.
Based on the attitude of our server I can only speculate that she hates the owners and wants to drive away their business.
We went to sit on the patio and have some lunch. Looked like there were 2 servers working the patio. After our server brought us our beverages we waited 45-50 minutes and still she was totally ignoring us. Another server (dark haired woman) was frequently tending to the table behind us and I turned to ask a question and 2 words into it she snapped at me "I'm not your server!" I was about to apologize but before I could say anything she snapped "I'm not your server!" again. Unfortunately we had to leave without ordering food. It would be nice if the staff could learn some people skills.
Can't believe how rude the servers are here. We won't be coming back
Good beer but not great service. We were referred by an amazing local brewery but were cut off after one beer because we didn’t buy anything extra from them. Connor was short and to the point and not welcoming. A disappointing experience but worth the trip.
