Fantastic night out with great food and a great drag show. The lounge is stunning -the Dutch still life flowers on all of the walls enchanted us both. Staff and entertainers made us feel welcome and accepted. Highly recommended!

First off—the performers were super super great. So was our server!When some friends of mine and I got in for a drag show last week we had a pretty bad experience in Friends of Dorothy’s. The flyer for the bar didn’t note any cover fee. After we were sat, we were informed there was a 5 dollar cover. Then when they brought the machine over we were informed it’s “$8 if you’re paying on card.” This was slightly annoying but fine. We looked it up before going to make sure we wouldn’t need to grab cash, but there wasn’t a mention of a cover charge anywhere. Kind of odd when I know that places like Vicious Poodle pay their performers out of the extra money they make off bar when they host shows and don’t charge an unadvertised cover fee. I ordered some fries which were the cheapest thing on the menu at $10 and was brought less than a cup’s worth of soggy fries with Heinz ketchup. I ordered a $5.50 cider because it was the cheapest thing on the menu. Their drinks are definitely pricier than other places in town. Got probably about 3/4 of a can’s worth which I thought was fair for the price. When I was paying my bill I noticed that I had been charged $9.50 for the cider so showed the server the menu pricing and they told me that this was a “misprint”. They brought over the manager who kept asking me “what I wanted to do here.” I told him I felt a little cheated. He kept trying to get me to pay the full nine dollars despite their advertised pricing and told me with very obvious annoyance that “no bar in town will have a cider for only $5.50.” He ended up walking away and charging me the $5.50 with obvious annoyance. Kind of weird to be talked to like this for Believing the pricing they had listed themselves? I think it’s fair to feel taken aback by a restaurant repeatedly telling me that I have to pay more than I agreed to as a surprise, and then talking down to me when I object to this. Mediocre, overpriced, and frequented by a mostly straight crowd

Fantastic food, welcoming staff, really (REALLY) beautiful place. A must-see queer space. We asked for more pickles with the chicken and waffles and they brought us tons. Didn't get to attend a Drag Show Brunch but we've heard really really good things about them--go if you can.Vegetarian options: Heard them offer a vegan egg to a patron

If I could give a lower rating I would. So let me explain. My partner and I went there tonight. We sat at our fav spot in front of the fire. We got water when we sat. Then no server for 25 min. She went to all the other tables. Not us. So then my partner went up to the bar to get some drinks. 8 min at the bar. No interaction! Not even some eye contact. So back to our seats. Sat and waited another 10 min. NOTHING! Worst service I have ever had in this town.

What a nice surprise to find a warm, inviting brunch spot on a dreary, cold Saturday morning.We've been talking about FOD for ages and trying to get there for dinner, but this Saturday morning we found ourselves in LoJo trying to find a new brunch spot and saw that Friends of Dorothy was open.As soon as you step in the door, it's like, yeah, I could chill here for a few hours.Great service, nice comfortable lounge seating, food was perfect, and our server was friendly and attentive.Great spot.Mos'def heading there for dinner and a show soon.Saw a little stage and mic stand. I'm looking forward to seeing the entertainment.Gonna make a reservation and hopefully make Saturday nights a drag!Thanks FOD! See you again soon for that chicken and waffles!

Well when I try to book on line, choice of time was 4pm, ok, so I did. We got there to find out dinner can't be ordered until 5:30pm.So it's happy hour, 3pm to 5pm, so we wanted to orders some food but they were out of almost everything except fries, so after many orders of fries, we finally ordered dinner. By the way the restaurant was empty. This place is not fancy but the prices are high ( $32 for pasta ) and not much of a menu.And if one of my invite didn't showup, I would have been charged $20.
