Excellent food and service. The spicy green beans are a must have. Stopped here after leaving downtown Victoria and looking for something on the way by ack to our hotel. Really happy we found this place. Very busy with good reason.
A bit of Westernized cuisine that is tasty. Also some dishes straight from China. Delicious and not greasy like it's lower quality peers.

Our favorite Chinese restaurant in Victoria. Owner is always nice and accommodating. Fast service and food are always freshly made. They have the best siomai in town. 10/10
Really enjoyed the food. Nice mix of traditional Chinese and Canadianized Chinese food. Everything we had was hot, flavourful and really fresh. The service was excellent.

One of the worst places for Halibut in the city.

The best Cantonese restaurant in Victoria!
Halibut House is one of my all time favourite restaurants in Victoria. It is family run and that translates into incredibly fresh and delicious dishes, attentive service and a wonderful community atmosphere. I ordered the A combination plate for one and received a generous serving. The vegetables were perfectly al dente, and everything was piping hot. I may have done myself some damage by eating it all, but it tasted so good. As I enjoyed my dinner, the phone kept ringing with take out orders. I arrived at 5:20 and was grateful that there was a table available , as it didn’t surprise me that shortly after I sat down, others started coming in. I’m not surprised to see that Halibut House is still as popular as ever and they deserve to be. Give me a restaurant where the shareholders work in the kitchen and serving tables, rather than some corporate restaurant that has formulas for everything, they know how to cut corners, and they really only care about shareholder return. Let’s celebrate and support family restaurants whenever possible. You’ll almost always get a better meal and better overall experience.

Been ordering from Halibut House since the late 1990s and still ordering. It's #1 in our books.
Good food, but was told order would be ready at 5:30, and when I showed up at 5:30 I waited 48 minutes until someone even acknowledged I was there. Not a hello or nothing. After finally receiving the order, they added cashews to one of the dishes that was supposed to be peanuts, and my mother is very allergic to cashews. Decent food but bad experience in-restaurant.
Lived near here for years and my only regret is I wished I tried halibut house sooner! Got take out with my bf and never in my life have I had such wonderfully crunchy sweet sour pork! Even after the drive home and plating our food was crispy. 5/5, I’ve already come back since and will return as often as possible as long as I’m in this city. Best Chinese food in town.

False advertisement on menu pricing! You pay more than what is listed in the photos. Good food, but I was shocked when I got the price when I picked it up.

Food was not tasty. I found that mall Chinese food is better quality.

Been here the first time.
Free parking.
Simple but clean and pleasant place.
Fast and friendly service.
Got the dinner special.
Friend beef rice (good) with one spring roll (it had a certain taste I didn't like), broccoli beef (good) and sweet and sour pork (good). Good portion and good taste.
Free pot of tea.
I would come back.

It's good food...if you can get it. They need to change message on phone to say something to effect "if you receive this message we aren't taking any more orders today." (which is usually before 5pm).
