My boyfriend and I just finished our brunch date. It was one of the best brunches we have ever had. The portion sizes, flavours, and customer service were outstanding. Everything was extremely fresh and cooked to perfection. Our meals (and the mango hot sauce) were to die for. We will be returning! We are certainly going to become regulars. Thank you!!

Takes more than thirty minutes to serve brunch. We finished eating within 10. Food is average, potatoes are below average——too mushy to my taste.

Lovely, delicious open-air experience on the heated patio. Great music and amazing food. Pro tip: try the House-made Lemonade. It's heavenly!

Holy moly I just had the best smoked salmon eggs Benedict ever. Excellent fresh and healthy ingredients cooked perfectly. The drip coffee from Fernwood, a local rostery, was divine too, with smooth, bright fruity note without the over powering acidity. Wonderful staff too. Free parking at the side lot.

Delicious food! I always compare a restaurant's shakshuka to my dad's and they never come close, until I tried the shakshuka at house of Boateng. It is very flavorful and addictive. Don't forget to add the pork belly!!

I have been to HOB and long table events many times. I
Think it is amazing to have a restaurant of this calibre in our neighborhood. However my last two experiences have been very disappointing. In June my friends and I went to girls night. No complaints at all about the food that night but the service was really poor. The hostess was very nice but our waitress (short young women with long black hair) was terrible. It was not busy but it took her forever to acknowledge us. She dropped the plates at the table without a word. No explanation of the items nothing. She never came to top up our wine or water! I put it down to a bad night! Then 2 weeks ago I brought some friends from out of town for dinner on a Thursday night. It was not busy but again same waitress was assigned to our table. This woman does not belong serving people. It took her forever to acknowledge us we had a few questions about the menu items and I don’t think she could have provided less information or enthusiasm if she tried. She did not top up wine or water. Again dropped off the dishes and when I asked what something was on my plate she said “mash” Normally when I go to a restaurant like this the waiter will explain what is on the plate. The gentleman who delivered on of the dishes certainly did so. The food was not as good as usual. The salmon was supposed to be 6 oz but sure didn’t seem to be. The duck wings were not good. Like chewing elastic. My mushroom risotto was really good. I was really disappointed and a bit embarrassed after Bragg up this place for so long. I think I will give it a rest before returning and if I find I am going to be served by the same waitress I won’t stay.

I honestly think this is the best breakfast I have had in years. I had the crab benny. Got a jar strawberry jam, and the candied jalapeños and a chai latte. Exceptional service, they even let me try the peppers before buying a jar! Looking forward to going again!

Went for the weekly ladies night menu specifically, because HOB has such high ratings and it seemed like a good deal. I traveled all the way from downtown Victoria. The food was alright, but the service was some of the slowest I've ever experienced. The restuarant was at less than half capacity and it was a weekday evening. It took over an hour to get our drinks, the very first thing we ordered. We only got them after asking the waitress what was taking so long - the worst part was after all that waiting, the cocktail was terrible. I am not picky about my drinks, and if I paid for booze I won't waste it - but this one was undrinkable. It tasted like mustard mixed with fruit juice (the menu did mention mustard in the drink but Id hoped it would be well balanced). We didn't even get water served to us for over half an hour, with the menus. The menus didn't include the ladies night special they were advertising, so I asked what was included and the waitress was unsure. It took another 20 minutes to get the ladies night menu. When dinner finally arrived it looked nice but the piece of salmon was so small. All in all, it was a 2.5 hour affair and a disappointment. The only consolation was getting to spend extra time chatting with my friend between every course, and dessert was tasty - but I took it home because I was tired of being there!
