Everything was more or less as expected (3rd time at Il Covo)- though when I pay over $300 for a meal for 4 (only 1 glass of wine) I would expect the waiter to offer a refill to my almost adult kids' $5 cokes and perhaps a refill of the bread without me needing to ask. Value is the missing category here which would be 2 or 3 on this particular night.

Intimate, small with a cozy atmosphere, complete with an authentic Italian server. Would definitely go back.

Where do I begin? This was our 3rd time to this amazing restaurant. It is hard describe quite how phenomenal it is, you just have to experience it for yourself! Go with a group of 4, and choose to do chef's choice family style. You will have the eating experience of your life! We celebrated here for my engagement 6 years ago, and just celebrated our good friend's promotion as a naval officer this last time. The server was perfect and we enjoyed practicing our Italian with Stelvio (having just gone to Italy last summer). The food was perfect, and the mocktail/non alcoholic beverage menu was lovely and SO appreciated by us as none of us drink. The atmosphere was relaxing and romantic, the meal was served leasurely without being slow. We look forward to going back every time we visit our neighbors to the north! (We live across the water in Washington state). Gratzie Mille!

I have to say, the lasagna I enjoyed here was truly the most delicious I've ever tasted! Tagliata con Gnocchi was perfectly cooked and served. Combining authentic Italian flavours, excellent service, and delightful desserts, it’s a perfect spot to make your evening memorable. Don't forget to reserve a table ahead of time to ensure a wonderful experience.

First time back in a few years. I’m not much of a foodie and my impression was they were trying to do too much with their offerings. The polpetta appetizer was 3 large meatballs covered in onions, olives and almond flakes. It wasn’t great, my preference would have been a plainer tomato based sauce. My entre was the veal marsala and it wasn’t tender nor did the cream pasta complement the veal. It was filling. Again my preference would have been roasted potatoes as a side or a tomato based pasta not cream based. Finally the cannoli desert was so overly sweet my teeth hurt. Service was prompt and friendly. Was it worth $100 per person? No.

Restaurantji Recommends
Service was great and our server recommended the special of the day upon seating. The restaurant has nice ambient lighting and in a comfortable Italian setting with fixtures and details. I ordered the spinach gorgonzola, which was good but the portion was small and doesn't reflect the exaggerated pricing, and impepeta which was phenomenal and fresh. For the main course I ordered the cannelloni and my wife ordered the cioppino livornese. The cannelloni was delicious and was perfect. The cioppino was very salty and very hard to finish due to the sourness taste and again, overly salted. We both enjoyed the desserts and drinks. Overall, good experience with the service and food. A bit pricier than other Italian restaurants out there, maybe $2-4 more on average for each item on the menu. The minimal 18% tip is a bit extreme for just two people upon check out. I would consider trying other Italian restaurants out there in Victoria.

We had the most incredible experience at Il Covo! Our hotel highly recommended it, and it turned out to be the perfect choice for celebrating our engagement. From the moment we arrived, we were treated so warmly, starting with complimentary prosecco! We sat outside in the garden, which was beautifully lit at night and created such a romantic atmosphere. Our waiter, who was Italian, added even more authenticity to the experience with his attentiveness and excellent recommendations. The food was absolutely outstanding—easily a 10/10!!! Everything about the evening was flawless: romantic, delicious, and truly unforgettable!
