James Bay Inn Restaurant

My 93 year old father was the victim of slurs today in the JBI pub. I walked up to defend him and was challenged to fight with the bartender, which of course I refused. Even as we were being rushed out after paying our bill, the bartender (or server) yelled in our faces, and bumped me with his shoulders. It is sad for us, since we have been coming to the JBI pub/restaurant for the 20 years that I have lived here, and have always loved our time there. Now I feel that my elderly father and I can never come back. How on earth could we?

Good food and great service. Decor is modern but patrons are somewhat aged. Good value for money but don't expect any ambiance.

The owner reached out. This is about wait staff attitude. They charged me gst on exemption items. I brought it to the attention of the waitress and she was belligerent about me updating her on the situation. My wife and I felt so unwelcome. JBI has lost a customer because they hired a employee who doesn't care. There were so many issues about service. Please stay clear of this pub.

I was craving liver and onions and knew that James Bay Restaurant served I had a wonderful meal two nice large pieces of liver with onions, bacon, mashed potatoes and vegetables for $27 price was reasonable for these times however
I asked her to extra gravy and some mustard to go along with it. I was charged four dollars for a small Couple ouncesof extra gravy and one dollar for A thimble of mustard
It’s not the price. It’s a principle of the thing I can’t believe a bit of gravy and mustard would cost five bucks. I’m so disappointed.

Excellent place for breakfast. Would be nice if the waiter did not hover over me as I was paying by credit card.

We enjoyed a yummy dinner here on a busy Saturday evening. Staff made room for our group of six very quickly. The food and drinks were very yummy. I had a most delicious Tibetan Bowl with the crispy beef and coconut rice. It was fresh and absolutely! 5 ⭐️ for my meal. The nachos were yummy and full of cheese and veggies. The burgers and fries were good. Both my kids loved the chowder. The only real complaint, was the order of spring rolls was forgotten, and we didn’t receive them until the end of our meal. They were good, but literally dripping in oil. The server was very kind and apologized for the mix up (sounds like another large table accidently got our order). We unfortunately did end up paying for it. I’d definitely go back though. The meal was great.

We love this place. Dinners are great and the room is very comfortable. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The steak sandwich and lamb shank are incredible.

I rate the JBI highly in a category of comfort food, priced fairly, and tables spaced for conversation, not confrontation. Excellent waiters. Solid choice for non indulgent atmosphere.
