Where is this place
Lots of doctors offices, no sign for Maiko Sushi (NOT like the picture) if it's there, it's invisible. I drove around the complex twice, and then went elsewhere.
I have not visited Maiko Sushi in a couple of years but when out-of-town guests felt like sushi today, Maiko was the place to go for excellent, fresh, high quality sushi. The owner is the chef and only worker so he is juggling a lot in the kitchen and out front but the food was all excellent and the prices very reasonable. If you are looking for ambience, this may not be your place but if you want excellent sushi, I highly recommend it.

Good quality and very affordable! There is no longer a sign over the door and the door was propped open with a fan. The food was delicious and the prices were unbelievable. I had the lunch combo b and it was amazing. The tuna on the cowboy roll was fresh and delicious. We were the only ones in for lunch and service was fine but there was only one person taking orders and cooking. If you're in a rush I doubt this place is for you. I would definitely eat here again but only if I wasn't in a rush.

This has been my absolute favourite place to get sushi ever since I was a little girl.
I remember when the place was ran by both Brian and his wife and it was always so lovely to come and order from them.
I have yet to find another sushi place that I like better and I’ve constantly recommended Maiko to people. I’m so grateful that Brian has kept the business open throughout the years because if he were to close down, the city would be losing an absolute gem.

Recommended by a friend as a hidden gem and he was right. Everything we ordered was delicious. Rice was soft and sticky, seafood was really fresh, great soya sauce and the best miso! Not for up-ity people who want to be doted on, this is for the real foodies. Not to mention I haven’t seen such affordable prices since 1999!

I haven't been here for a while (about 2 yrs) but I found this hidden gem in 2010/2011. Still the freshest and best price sushi money can buy. Brian always aims for quality and it's consistent.
I highly recommend it and without a doubt, he is a one man show but it's the quality and love put into it and its so worth it. Just plan a bit better. He can't be at the front and the back but still tries to accomdate all his customers.
Seating is limited, take out is better. There could be a wait depending on time frame and your order. He is always taking orders so that already speaks volume.
Hes a hidden gem and worth it!

We tried Maiko Sushi once for takeout and won’t be back. First off, the door looked locked so we weren’t even sure it was open. Turns out it was, but we basically had to shoulder our way in as the owner yelled something at us from across the restaurant.
Inside the atmosphere isn’t great. One guy working alone, very abrupt and abrasive. While we waited for him to take our order, a couple of other customers came in and were treated just as unpleasantly. Then he shouted from the back for us to shout our order to him.
He told us it’d be about 35 minutes, so we went out to do something else. Came back, and it still wasn’t ready, it took nearly an hour in total.
The food itself is fine. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing memorable either. Definitely not worth the spirit crushing interaction.
Honestly just go to Sushi-ya up the road on Goldstream Ave instead. Way friendlier, much better energy, and the sushi’s delicious. That’s where we’ll be going from now on.

Owner has yelled at my family twice on 2 seperate occasions, this behavior is unacceptable
Sushi is decent good but the gentleman who runs the place is just rude. He has yelled at me for being late and just yelled at my partner picking up as well unacceptable behavior
By far the best spicy rolls we have had in years (and we were in Japan not long ago). Excellent value for the price. I don't know if it is always a one-man operation, but if you go in the evening plan at least an hour before closing so the chef has time to work his magic before he has to close up. Highly recommended!
❤️Food was good and good price,
Usually, really great sushi !
Over the phone sometimes just comes off as rude , that is only reason for 4 star .
Again sushi is usually great !!!
