A hidden gem located in a residential area near Royal Jubilee, away from downtown. Authentic Japanese cuisines are served here! We had teishoku (set meal) of Karaage and assorted katsu, both were very tasty and served with a lot of various side dishes including miso soup. Staff are polite and gentle. Thank you! ?
I really recommend the “Japanese set meal” for person, you could share one set, but I highly recommend to have 2 sets and share the different options of Teishoku. I had a teriyaki chicken set and spicy buta shogayaki Don set. The Teriyaki sauce was incredible ?and gave to the chicken a juicy consistency, in the other hand the spicy buta for me was a little bit dry. The rest of the complements amazing.The service was incredible. Recommended to have a cute nice dinner with friends, partner and enjoy a really good Japanese cusine.

We came on a Sunday at 11:30am and we were the first ones seated. It quickly filled up by 12pm. I got the assorted katsu set ($23) and the buta don set ($23).The assorted katsu set comes with 2 shrimp 2 pork and 2 chicken. The katsu is so light and crispy. Not oily whatsoever. The cabbage comes with the usual sesame sauce which balances off the katsu well. Their side dishes change every day which is nice. Today's side dishes was spinach, dumplings, fried shrimp on veggies. Each set also comes with miso soup and rice.The buta don set was pretty basic. Seasoning wasn't too strong. This is definitely home comfort food. I loved that it came with lots of salad. The meat goes so well with rice.Love their sets as they offer a huge variety of items. Their side dishes are always well thought out and always includes some kind of tempura.We had asked them if they have dessert and they said they had a sesame ice cream dessert which comes with red bean and sesame balls ($8). This dessert is a MUST ORDER if you love sesame. It wasn't overly sweet (except for the red bean but I think that's the offset the slight bitterness of the sesame). I would come back for this dessert alone.Overall I loved the vibe of this little Japanese restaurant/cafe. They don't do they sets to go yet so keep that in mind. I believe they have different things for to go menu. Their service is super friendly and nice. The food also comes out really fast. Would recommend if you are in the are and looking for some home cooked Japanese food

My friend and I had a great meal here! The staff are very concerned about the quality of their food - which was delicious - and the service was wonderful. I have to order gluten-free and was happy to learn they have many different options for anyone with gluten sensitivity so I’ll definitely come back to try other dishes.

Kappo is new to Oaklands. The attention to preparation, quality ingredients and perfect cooking methods puts Kappo st the top of my dining out list. Be aware, Kappo is not a sushi joint. The space is beautiful, but the lights are too bright and the radio a bit too loud.Vegetarian options: Consider calling ahead for a complete Vegan tray.

For the price this was one of the better meals I’ve had in a long time. The service was exceptional and the food was fresh and delicious. The tempura, the katsu don, agedashi tofu and the different platters we got were all exceptional. The miso ramen wasn’t our favourite, but wasn’t enough to lower from a 5 star rating. We will 100% be back here again!
