Yummy food, fast and friendly service. Patio was spacious but limited number of tables. Good place to hangout.

I was at Maude’s on March 25. I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad. Firstly, it was not lightly seared as Ahi is supposed to be. It was over-cooked and the ends were cooked completely through. And it did not have a good taste or nice smooth texture. About 1 hour after eating I started to feel not right. I arrived home just after 9pm and became violently ill (extreme watery diarrhea and vomiting) for the next 4 or so hours. It was severe, brutal and scary. Afterwards I experienced painful tightening cramps in my muscles which I am experiencing still the day after. And my body hurts.
I had to take a day off work to recover and try to rehydrate. And I have not yet been able to eat anything.
I believe the tuna I was served was not fresh or very close to being not safe to serve. The sudden onset of my symptoms are in line w eating fish that is high in omegas which become toxic when the fish is not properly stored and/or fresh.
I believe the kitchen staff just rinsed off the tuna steak that was probably not safe to serve or close to so should have erred on the side of caution and not served it. Customers should expect a high level of care and diligence from kitchen staff.
I don’t think I will ever eat at Maude’s again and I definitely do not recommend it to anyone, especially seafood.
Maude’s needs to investigate and address this immediately w their staff. This should include all menu items that have the potential to make customers very ill.

Also, it was so loud that our group could barely hear each other and had to yell in order the be heard. Maybe avoid this place on trivia nights unless u are participating in the trivia. If you prefer a quiet setting, this is not the place to go. We didn’t have a nice experience.

Update: Mar. 27/25: in response to Maude’s reply: it was definitely the tuna that made me ill. All my symptoms align with having eaten not fresh fish and w food poisoning. I do not recommend eating at Maude’s especially after the GM brushed off my experience as being anything other than the possibility I was served not fresh fish. The symptoms happened within an hour after eating the their toxic fish. Not sure why the GM should feel insulted when a customer writes about the their experience and the appearance of the restaurant’s food; that is why customers have a review platform, to share their experiences w other possible customers. The GM should learn from one customer’s experience to ensure this is not the next customer’s experience.
This GM wrote me privately and stated “…our turnover of food product is high, so food is unlikely to spoil.” Unlikely, maybe but not impossible. And just bc others didn’t report getting ill doesn’t mean they didn’t get ill and doesn’t mean it is impossible for one person to get ill.

And as for the noise level, I did acknowledge that we did not pick the best night to go, so clearly the GM does not pay attention to detail in both food or atmosphere; they did not read or understand my suggestion on which is a good night to visit the pub.
Maude’s response is dismissive and insulting and frankly rude. I’ll make sure I let people know never to eat there especially w this GM at the helm.

love the atmosphere and good prices for some beers. great place to chill out, have drinks and hangout. food on the other hand, i don’t think they know what seasoning is. my beef burger tasted like it was boiled in water but the flavours on the blackberry jam, brie and chicken burger went together well. Just bland tasting food. if you’re a foodie i wouldn’t recommend but you’d probably not go anyway! make good use of the salt n pepper shakers :^)

The local pub. It's not perfect but that's just the way I like it. Overwhelmingly positive experiences after coming here periodically over the past ~8 years. Long live Maude's!

I just droped by late afternoon for a beer, wich was very good. They have a big tap choice with local beer!
A Game was just about to start so the atmosphere was very good, cheering and happy.
Cool spot!

I came to Maude Hunter’s Pub expecting a decent experience—a beer, a bite to eat, and maybe a bit of hospitality. What I got instead was one of the most unwelcoming dining experiences I’ve had in a long time
From the start, the hostess that greeted me was indifferent—not outright rude, but far from warm or engaging. But the real issue was my waitress, Little Miss G, who made it abundantly clear that my presence was not appreciated. No genuine smiles, no engagement, no effort to make me feel like a valued customer—just cold, uninterested service that made me question why I even bothered to sit down.

There was zero effort to provide even the most basic level of hospitality. I was polite, yet treated like I was an inconvenience. Needless to say, I didn’t leave a tip because there was no service worthy of one.

Management should seriously consider retraining staff on customer service basics—or at the very least, remind them that paying customers deserve to feel welcome. A pub should be a place where people feel comfortable, not like they’re imposing by simply ordering food and drinks.

If you’re looking for friendly, engaging service, I strongly suggest going elsewhere.

We went for an early lunch on a weekday, it wasn't busy and the service was great.

I always have a great fun time @ Music Bingo Mondays. Staff checked on us often, food came out quickly and enjoyed it. No complaints

Rude staff-except Immogen- I would say this is a bad place to be- arrogant and obnoxious!

It's a pub . Clean. Elevator is out . So stairs may slow you down . But a nice change and good food

We are regulars. Do not order a steak. It was tough and sinewy. It was the same last time and I couldn't believe it could be a repeat. The rest of the menu is quite acceptable. Otherwise great atmosphere and attentive servers

Classic old Victoria pub. Good food and really nice atmosphere especially around the holidays.
