I believe I was treated unfairly and in a discriminatory manner. I placed my order, and approximately 8 customers who ordered after me received their meals within 3–5 minutes. During this time, staff repeatedly looked at me, and when I asked about my order, an employee offered free appetizers. I found this gesture insulting—I was not asking for anything free; I simply expected to receive the meal I ve ordered for in a reasonable timeframe.
The service was unacceptable, and I ultimately did not eat there. Based on what I experienced, I cannot recommend this restaurant. I strongly felt my order was delayed or ignored because I am Black, while most of the other customers were Asian or Caucasian.
I was in Victoria for one week for work, and this experience negatively affected the rest of my stay. I also lost my lunch break: I had a limited window to eat, but after waiting over half an hour, I had to leave and walk back to my workplace without having time to eat anything. I felt refused service and disrespected.

One of my favourite restaurants! I miss it now that I don’t live in Victoria, but I recently got to bring my daughter and now she loves it, too. It was every bit as delicious as I remembered, and as friendly, too. The owners are really lovely and their staff is very kind and attentive.
I’ve had most things on the menu over the years, and ALL of it is excellent. My kid loved the brisket and meatball pho, and she also enjoyed the vermicelli bowl I had with lemongrass chicken and prawns.
Can’t wait to be back in Victoria and get to come here again, and bring more of my family.
