Purple Garden Chinese Restaurant

The ol lady wanted a succulent Chinese meal but most of the Chinese places in town are pretty dog water at best. Just by chance we hit the Friday buffet and had very minimal expectations. As you walk down the stucco walls you fade into 1996 and are provide with some solid old school canandianese. All the basic choices, some unique ones. I feel this place gets a bad wrap for some reason on Google. This place was relatively packed and everybody seemed to enjoy it thoroughly as did we. I think if the regular patron was younger than 60 there would be a lot more forgiving reviews. Actually was one of the better Chinese experiences I've had in Victoria.

Incorrect order items.
Poor customer service when trying to fix the issues.

All signs of a failing restaurant.

Simply put, I'm not going back.

On their website they show a menu with buffet hours but now their buffet is only on weekends not weekdays they need to update it

Avoid this place at all costs.
I paid $11.98 for a sad box of greasy wonton wrappers, no filling, no flavor, just hollow scraps thrown in like they’re doing customers a favor. This isn’t food, it’s a full, on money grab. They’re literally charging premium prices for air wrapped in grease. If this is what they proudly serve, they’re not running a restaurant, they’re running a scam with deep fryers.

The place is not worth the $$ money. Stopped in with a friend we were both very disapointed . The buffet was cold most stuff was not replaced and if it was it was very little. Food had little taste would not recommend to anyone. Very few customers will never go back.

No one came to take our plates, ask for water, nothing.

Absolutely top notch for cheap chinese food, best in class

The food and service was very good for takeout. The atmosphere in the restaurant was fairly good no real complaints.

Limited buffet options. The only options for buffet are shown in the 2nd picture. Quiet atmosphere and quality was decent! Mostly pork based foods, struggled to find halal options.

Lifeless food, as I saw mentioned in a previous post. Tasteless. Clue: we were the only ones in the dining room.

I have never in my life left a buffet hungry but this place had the worst food I have ever tasted. Even the cheesecake had freezer burn. Avoid this place. Yeah, it's all you can eat but you end up more hollow because it costs you your soul.

Since COVID is under control they have started up their Buffet again. Only for dinner on Friday and Saturday. A bit pricey now - but so is everything. $27 a person with $3 off for seniors. We tried it a couple of weeks back and it was as great - same wide selection of dishes. Going back tomorrow evening.
We have be going here for years and it is very consistent and delicious - in my experience it is the best buffet in town. The same folks seem to be running it, and when they saw us come in they remembered us.

My husband and I visited the restaurant on Saturday, May 24 just before 7 o’clock
There was almost no food left in the buffet
After asking for wonton soup and waiting for about 10 minutes, a few wontons were delivered with more people waiting
. Every container in the buffet section contained spoonfuls of something that didn’t really resemble a food
In about one hour, one of the stuff deliver a few shrimps to the buffet and a couple spoonfuls of sweet and sour pork. They also brought some ginger pork that simply it was a sweet and sour pork with some ginger sauce in it that it tasted awful.
We will never go there again

What a disappointment the food was stale and cold not a lot of variety the restaurant was dingy and outdated inside the bathroom were disgusting do not waste your money and go here you will be very very disappointed some of the dishes were also dirty
