Our dinner at Q was a big disappointment. The food price was high (as expected) but the quality was below average (not as expected!!). Our main server (Edgar) did not even smile to any of his guests, so we didn't feel welcomed. Also we had to remind him a few times to bring something, which was surprising since there were not many guests around at the time. Like others have mentioned, Q is really banking on its historic location. Honestly, it's better to eat elsewhere and walk around inside Empress afterwards (if you like the location).

Had breakfast here as a hotel guest twice and enjoyed it immensely. The service was top notch: the servers were very efficient and pleasant despite the restaurant being fairly packed. Everything i ordered was delicious, but I wanted to put in a special word for the mango lassi chia seed pudding, which was incredible without being too sweet. The coffee was good as well. Thank you so much for the wonderful breakfast!

Atrocious service. Waited 30 minutes for a bowl of oatmeal and toast and 43 minutes for a coffee. They also got my wife’s food order wrong and our coffee order wrong. Worst service I have ever had.

Update: So incredibly underwhelmed by the breakfast food, it is absolutely equivalent to diner quality. This absolutely discouraged us from choosing ANY of their other dining options during our 4 day stay. Eventhough breakfast is included in our stay, we will opt out on our last day!!
5 start breakfast this is not. Blackberry waffles were partially burned, super dense due to batter not being fresh and without much flavor. I asked or server to exchange for 1 egg and berries but was billed for the inedible waffles in addition. For the nightly price and the hype, I would have expected to be treated better. Our stay continues for 3 more nights, I hope for improvement in our breakfast experiences.

The cocktails were VERY expensive, but good!
The mains and apps were over seasoned, stale and cold (when it should not have been). We were staying in the hotel and decided for ease of travel we would celebrate at Q instead… big mistake!!

The service level at the Empress goes beyond any other hotel. They know how to treat their customers - you are made to feel amazing! We just had drinks, but Myra took care of our table and made sure we were happy!

Had breakfast at Q and really enjoyed it!
We got the avocado toast and the classic eggs Benedict both looked amazing and tasted even better. The flavors were spot on.
Everyone on the team was super friendly and welcoming. Big shoutout to Rachel and Nayeon they were so kind and thoughtful, and their service totally made my day💖
I would love to stay at the beautiful Fairmont again on my next trip and definitely look forward to dining here once more💖

Good food, but service needs improvement
The food at Fermont was quite good, although it arrived a little lukewarm. Flavors were there, and the quality was clear, but for a restaurant of this level, I expected better attention to detail. The service, unfortunately, felt off – the staff seemed inattentive and not very welcoming, which took away from the overall experience. With a bit more polish on the service side, this place could really shine.C’est

We have had breakfast and dinner here. Breakfast was fairly good although their decaffeinated lattes were terrible. Wait times for coffees were quite bad and had to send one back as lukewarm. Suspect it had been sitting around for a while. Apart from the coffee service was very good. Dinner was really good although it was over complicated as I wanted something from the bar menu (Caesar salad but wanted to add salmon) and because of this we weren’t allowed to sit in the main restaurant which I didn’t understand as everyone else wanted something off the main menu and they had Caesar salad on it but the greeter was quite rude and abrupt and said the salmon wasn’t allowed to be added which quite frankly is ridiculous given the calibre of the hotel. The food however that we chose was fairly good and the waitress at the bar was lovely and had an amazing memory!

We ate at the Q, and it was extremely disappointing. My halibut was cold, my husband's pasta was undercooked to such a degree that it was difficult to chew, the service led us to feel invisible and all for a hefty bill. It seems this restaurant relies heavily on tourist clientele and, so, does not extend great effort to develop return visitors. I would absolutely recommend a visit to one of the many excellent restaurants in Victoria; this is a place to skip.

Top notch service, top notch dining experience, excellent selection of food and drinks. Good prices for the service and selection as well. Friendly staff all around. Good at meeting dietary restrictions.

We celebrated my mom’s 70th birthday on Sunday and The Q made it extra special! Andrew was fantastic! Definitely the perfect night for such a wonderful mom! Highly recommend for your special occasions! Also, they have a Matilda worthy chocolate cake and probably the biggest prime rib cut I’ve ever seen haha! My dad was super happy about that! We also order breakfast to the room the next day and it was so fun and special! Thank you!

Everything we ordered was great, I especially loved the summer truffle soup, it was so rich. Wish the salmon pieces in the salmon crisp were a *bit* thicker, but I enjoyed the dressing that it accompanied and thought it was unqieu. But given that this restaurant is in a very nice hotel, the service was quite subpar. Someone (not sure if chef or waiter) brought out a caesar salad, even though that's not what we ordered (we ordered a different starter dish and the waiter misheard, my husband definitely confirms I ordered the watermelon & tomato). Then after we finished our meal and the table was cleared, someone (again, this person was not our waiter, so not sure who) mistakenly brought out 4 accompaniments to the prime rib. It was meant for the table next to us. But that was when we realized we didn't even receive that for the prime rib meal.. quite unfortunate! The table next to us received extremely slow service as well.
