I drop in or take out every week on my way to the beach. I love the food but the servers are so friendly and pleasant. They have come to know me and what I like to eat.Kid-friendliness: There is a booth table inside the door, which has magnetic alphabets on the fridge for the kids to play with. There is also a family table where family groups can sit with Nana & Poppa. My grandkids ordered grill cheese and RICE CRISPY SQUARES
Beautiful cafe. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. The have cakes and treats as well as lunch foods and healthy options. Highly recommend.

We usually have breakfast, I had been charged twice on my credit card, machine malfunction, not the restaurant itself.It was before Xmas ,between closing and my schedule it was a month before I got back there.I showed them my dbl charged, they apologized and gave me credit immediately. I would patronize Ruth & Dean without question.

Best. Cake. Ever.This was our 2nd Red Velvet Cake and I cannot even put into words how delicious it is. The amount of love and care that goes into making their cakes does not go unnoticed. Thank you for taking care of your patrons, what a beautiful addition to the Oak Bay area.

Great food, nice staff, good atmosphere, but why would it take half an hour to make a burrito? I'm not one who normally complains, but there were no orders ahead of ours when we ordered. It still took that long for my food to arrive. During that wait, about 15 people showed up and formed a line that didn't move much. Can't imagine how long their wait would be!

First time to eat in at this establishment. Made my order and given a number for my order. I sat down and my coffee was never delivered. I was told I should of waited for it. How on earth should I expect this? I was told it was still hot 15min later. It was not. Not sure anything convinced me to stay or come back. I wish I had the money back for my americano and tip.

Super disappointing. The wait was really really long with no warning, and after that our preparation request (initially met by an “oh, for sure we will do that”) didn’t happen and so some of this very expensive food was inedible. No effort by the establishment to make it up to us in any way - just a thanks for letting us know you weren’t happy. It will be our last visit. 3/5 stars for two good breakfast sandwiches (out of four).
