It was the best sushi and udon restaurant I've tasted overseas. It would be nice to have a restaurant like this on Vancouver Island. Sushi Mago needs no further explanation.

Great spot. Close to campus. Reasonably priced. The green salad came with black sesame sauce which was both delicious and unique. All the sushi rolls were good. We came for lunch and had the sashimi, nigiri, and beef teriyaki bento boxes. They were all fantastic. The side of tempura had a broccoli tempura - which is rare. The colour and crispness of the tempura was light and clean - indicating that the oil they used must have been a good quality and relatively “fresh”.
We would definitely come back again.

best sushi I've had so far and I've tried lots of places in victoria! pretty small place but you wont be disappointed in the food
I had some trouble getting there at the right time as their hours are from 11:30 am till 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm till 7:30 pm, so just don't go at 3 in the afternoon

Wow easily the best sushi I have ever had. Unbelievably fresh, and a very great price. Rolls were a great size, the homemade sauce and mango on my tropical rolls was fabulous and the mango was so fresh. Also had spicy tuna rolls, inari and tamago. The egg on my tamago nigiri was freshly cooked and the tuna rolls were stuffed full. Will be back ?? keep up the great work

My favorite sushi place in Victoria. The tropical roll (for only 11.5$) is the best sushi I’ve had. I always get that and the dynamite roll combo and it is relatively cheap compared to many sushi places and it is easily the best tasting. They are very friendly and on time. Thank you sushi mago.

I’ve eaten a lot of sushi and I honestly think this is the best sushi I’ve ever had. Everything is ridiculously fresh and just generally really good. The tropical roll and the spicy salmon are my favourites from their menu! It’s quite small in the restaurant so there’s not much seating but honestly they’re usually pretty quick with takeout orders so it’s nice to take the sushi to the beach or a park. The staff are always very friendly too. Favourite takeout spot in Vic for sure.

It’s a humble shop, but while the space may be understated, the food is anything but.
Genuinely one of the best sushi I’ve had and the price is completely reasonable. For my partner and myself we shared one of the roll combos and a miso soup and it came to $30 dollars so $15 per person. Their fillings are generous and very well put together, the food is delicious and lots of options considering how small the shop may be.
Highly recommend visiting if you have not already. We will be back ☺️
