I miss Sushi Matsuri but I was very excited to have another Korean restaurant to eat at! great prices and portions and the staff are friendly as always. I’ll have to stop by and try their dinner menu. As others have said, the place is small so I suggest coming in during a quiet time/day. Looking forward to patio season!

As they have changed to Korean food recently, I want to add my review once more to reflect the change. And it is still as amazing and portions and the quality of the food reflect the price!! Love the unique side dishes that you get with the dinner!! Again, the restaurant is a little small but with patience and understanding when it's busy, everything is worth it. Definitely try it out for a mouthwatering Korean meal.

This Korean restaurant offers an authentic dining experience with a satisfying meal set. While the side dishes delighted the palate, the bulgogi could use a touch more complexity, and the bibimbap was a great. The staff were very nice, and excellent service added to the overall enjoyable dining experience.

Ordered the bulgogi bowl with kimchi and dumplings. Tried the rice punch as well. Punch very sweet but also tasty. The bowl and dumplings were a good portion too. Great service. This is a great change from the sushi restaurant. I will come back.Parking: Parking in James Bay is pretty nonexistent. Come by foot, bike or bus.Wheelchair accessibility: There is limited accessibility except for one table at the very front. If you have a disability it can be hard to maneuver in their small space but they do try and accommodate.

I was so sad when Sushi Matsuri closed for renovations in December. They re-opened yesterday as The Bop and I was excited to go try out the new iteration for dinner on opening night.Really enjoyed my meal! I had the soondubu jjigae (spicy soft tofu stew with seafood and veggies) - the portion size was great, the seafood tasted fresh and delicious, the banchan (side dishes) were tasty. The owners really care about what they do, and it shows in the food and service.Looking forward to being able to try their lunch menu soon as well. While I miss having great sushi nearby, having great Korean nearby is amazing.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE 4.5 stars: good food and service making a winning combination when in downtown Victoria!=== 2. FOOD Appetizer Sashimi ($16.99):With 11 pieces on the plate: salmon, tuna, yellow tail, shrimp, and scallop, you're in for a treat with the variety. Good and fresh!Tempura Udon ($17.99):Arguably not that great value-wise, at least it tastes good. You get five pieces of tempura (two shrimp, three vegetable) and udon with a two pieces of fishcake.Oyako Don ($15.59):This is definitely better value: chicken and egg on rice, served with miso soup. There is a little too much water/sauce in this one this time, but it was good!Dynamite Roll ($8.99):Five pieces to delight you - nice!Note: Green tea costs $1.99.=== 3. SERVICE The service was good and it sounds like it could have been in a language other than English also. The server was nice enough to cater to my little guy, which helps (as all parents of little kids know)!=== 4. ENVIRONMENT So it's trying to be a small eatery reminiscent of those in Japan: brightly-coloured wooden decor in a setting that's not very bright. It sets the mood nicely for groups of any size, though it may be easier to keep it to 6 or less given the size of the place. Wheelchairs and baby strollers could do in here, though it would be best to stay near the front door. Parking is easy to miss - turn into the complex and park in the back where it's easier to get a space in the evenings.
