The reality is you have little idea how much you're actually going to pay for something. The workers making the food behind the counter don't know how much the food costs other then what it says on their menu.
At the cash register you are presented with no invoice regarding what it might be. In all seriousness the people at the register could very well be pushing additional cost buttons and you would effectively not be aware of it unless you ask for a receipt and debit them all whilst 100s of people wait to purchase their food.
The food itself tastes pretty good all things considered.
Most items here are priced 2x what they would be at competing stores.
For deseptive and misleading practices 1 star

I paid 4$ for a teabag (black tea) and hot water! Isn't it crazy??
Food is awful, but overpriced nonetheless. Summer staff are incredibly rude, and manager is un-professional and impolite. Lines are so long and cross contamination is a huge issue in foods that are supposedly vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, egg free, or Halal.

Overpriced for what you get. The staff can be rude, and the lines are ridiculously long, especially during the summer months. The food isn’t great—definitely not worth the cost. It feels like they're taking advantage of students. Would not recommend unless absolutely necessary.

WAY overpriced. $6.50 for a day old pizza in the fridge? Extortion in a place of learning is pretty weak, no excuse for that. Won’t go again.

I live in the area and decided to try one of Juvic‘s newest establishments. When I went to school here, the options were much fewer. However, prices were quite high, even then. Now the cost of eating at uvic is so high that no student other than international Could ever afford to go to the school. You do have to eat after all.

Very new. Open spaces. Sparse options during summer hours.

food is overpriced and lacks variety. It’s also frustrating that they close so early, especially with a mandatory meal plan. Some staff can be overly familiar—commenting on food choices or watching too closely—and I’ve noticed inconsistent treatment, like unprompted discounts for select customers. Overall, the experience could be more consistent and respectful!
Disgusting pizza and terrible cafeteria food. Closes way too early. University is a grift and the fake 50% off meal plan system solidified it for me. No one should be paying restaurant price for any of this garbage. The 50% off discount is a sham. You pay3000$ dollars and receive 1500$ in meal plan balance (the rest going to service fees) with a faux 50% off discount. They make the system convoluted to confuse people. At the end of the year they remove the 50% off discount so you just lose half your money. Eye opening experience, hated every second of it.

Nothing is bad and the workers are very polite.
Although you ask three times to the server to have fresh French fries, as you saw old French fries sitting there for a while, the server decides that they are all the same and refuses to serve the fresh French fries making sure to take the bottom of the pan.
Nice people and service. However, I wish there were more options :(
They have juicy grilled cheese.
I am literally poisoned every day…
Fast, cheap, good food. Easy to figure out, they have plenty of options as far as what you would like to eat. Hours could be a little bit better (open later) but other than that, easy and painless dining experience.
