Just went to get some dinner at the cove, after studying all day, and had such an awful experience , so frustrating for an educational institution. I got some pasta salad and put it in a box, and went to line to pay, I’m in my 4th year so I don’t have a one card, there was a couple in front of me the completed their purchases with no issues.when it was my turn she already seemed rude, I put the box on the scale, and she was starting at my weird, I was wearing a hoodie and a North face jacket, she kept looking at my pocket as if I took something. She said anything else I said no because THATS ALL I GOT, and then I take out of my phone from my hoodie pocket and pay with Apple Pay, because I don’t have a one card funds anymore, then she’s like are you sure there’s nothing else and keeps staring at my jacket pocket and I literally said no twice and I pull out my keys , I have car keys and heavy bunch so it looks like there’s something but the fact that she had the audacity to multiple times instiniuate I stole something is wild felt like a clear microagression as a person of color when the cashier was a old white lady, literaly so disrespectful, hope she was humbled when I pulled out my keys and showed her. Please hire more competent staff

Love the amount of vegan food. If you want more options for meat, go somewhere else. If you want to know why there is a such a emphasis on meat free options, check the last IPCC report.

Would give 0 stars if I could, it is so disturbingly bad it feels like the people in charge of food services are completely incompetent. Half the time you go in nothing is open except the grill. Their website contains no useful information. Doesn’t tell when the different sections will be open, doesn’t have calories or macronutrients of any kind available, doesn’t give info on pricing (because it’s a huge ripoff), shows ingredient of about half the items that they sell the others are coming soon forever. Don’t even get me started on the food. If you get lucky and they are offering pre-made breakfast burritos I would get that, everything else is inedible. Completely unacceptable for students that pay thousands of dollars per year that this is their only food option on weekends and after 3pm.

As a concerned parent, I'm very upset that my daughter attending first year residence at UVic had food poisoning TWICE in a span of several months from eating at the Cove; both times from eating the chicken strips. She also has a severe anaphylaxis allergy to certain nuts and when she asked the Cove staff about nuts in the food, the staff are totally clueless. This is a serious problem and can be a life-threatening situation ! The food choices are limited and not sure why the overwhelming vegan theme by limiting the meat options; not everyone is Vegan ! My daughter is chronically low iron and it's essential that she consumes sufficient protein; is the University actively trying to starve all non-Vegan students ?!? UVic Food Services needs to make immediate changes....this is appalling ! Shame on you !

It is shameful of UVic to have a cafeteria this sad. The amount of reviews where people have food poisoning, and my daughter has had food poisoning TWICE in less than a year since being at UVic. Let me tell you UVic if anything happens badly to a student from food poisoning I really hope you get sued - cause it will eventually happen. It is abundantly clear you have MAJOR issues. An overall google review rating of 1.6 is seriously pathetic for a university food offering, let alone any restaurant offering. Not to mention all the issues you read through that have a constant theme - plastics in food, undercooked food, poor quality food, people constantly getting food poisoning, no staff knowledgeable about food contents with those with allergies. Honestly, UVic you should be ashamed...does anyone care at your administration? Obviously not. Nothing gets done. Seriously pathetic.

The food here is mostly carb, and is made to fill you up and have no nutritional value. It will 100% give you stomach issues and have you feeling hungry 30 minutes later. Considering thousands of students pay large sums of money to be able to eat there you would think the University of Victoria would invest in their food quality a bit. But no they don’t, it’s garbage.

The food, disgusting. Ive gotten raw chicken, chicken bones in my chicken strips, rotten fruit, and food so bad i cant even eat it. I have no idea how this place is even allowed to sell food. They wont even give you a refund if they give you raw meat. It's not even worth it to have a meal plan cause you only get half of your money on you one card and the other half they take so you're literally just paying the actual price everything is, not to mention if you eat anywhere else on campus you're paying practically double. The port ladies: so nice. Some of the grill workers on the other hand are so rude. Im scared to order there half of the time. If you're going to hire people like that keep them in the back or something god.

It just ridiculous. The food price is higher than the restaurant outside campus.

Most of the staff members seem really nice, but as a student living on res, the cove is just so depressing. We are paying so much money to eat here and it feels like robbery. I feel bloated and gross every time I eat. The options get really old really fast, especially when there are only like 5 things that seem tolerable most of the time. A lot of the food here is vegan, which sounds nice but honestly just kind of sucks. Unfortunately, the food here is just bad most of the time, and it always sits weird in your stomach. I know so many people who have gotten food poisoning. I dread feeling hungry.

Eating here is highway robbery. But it is sadly the only option for students living in dorm res. The only good thing for value and taste is the pasta and the pizza. Even that is incredibly expensive for what you get.

This coming from someone who has to live on cove food: after two months at uvic I truly believe they are actively trying to poison us. The food is as unhealthy as it is gross to eat; I had food poisoning from the commonly undercooked chicken strips and have frequently found bits of plastic in my food. While the staff are usually quite nice, none of them seem to know anything about common food allergies. Every trip to the cove is a game of russian roulette for people with anaphylactic allergies.Another issue is nutritional value. All the protein options are either deep fried, or overly processed. Not to mention the excessive vegan catering. The cove is the only place where I have ever had to request dairy cheese. And burger patties made with half meat/half plant-based? Really? For the average price of a meal, let alone tuition, many students and I hope UVIC will start making improvements to the food we eat.

Without a 50% onecard discount, the prices are awful. Otherwise, the options and prices are reasonable.

lacking in healthy options. 90% of meat is deep fried or processed & make your own salad bar has very little vegetable options. 20% chance of food poisoning.
