The Hot and Cold Cafe - Cook St Village - Victoria BC

Poor option for gluten free, the 2$ extra for bread only gets you costco bread that costs $9 for 2 loaves. Small slices so makes for a pretty expensive $18 sandwich with not much on it. Pretty middling otherwise but would definitely not recommend for gluten free.

Great experience at the newly opened H&CC!
Had a very yummy & generous curry bowl w. rice. Super friendly service, outdoor seating under the blossoming Cook St. Village Chestnut Trees.
A perfect setting for afternoon / early dinner intake.

We have been to H & C a few times since the management change. Glad to see familiar menu items. And we keep an open mind to such transitions. Very friendly and helpful staff. Tasty vegetarian dishes and soups. We would even welcome more plant-based options, but that’s a personal preference. As long as the quality of ingredients and preparation remains high, it can be a cozy spot to refuel. And, of course, let’s hope that all of our cafes source local food as much as possible.

I stopped by in the late afternoon for the first time a few days ago. I met their chef Veer and the front counter person. I had a wonderful butter chicken and vegetarian yellow curry with rice. It was hot and very tasty. I also had their onsite handmade bread with Brie! I will be going back there again soon! Highly recommended!

Outstanding! Over and above service, excellent food and I felt compelled to come post how great my recent visit was. It had been a while and I'm going to be going as much as I can now that I've rediscovered it. Kudos on the new additions and for keeping my favourite yellow coconut curry soup on the menu!

Delicious curries and their bread was fresh, warm and perfect for dipping. Our son loved his grilled cheese too. ☺️

I had a curry bowl and a coffee there yesterday. It was not good at all. The rice was a complete mush. Tables dirty. I even had to throw away the coffee after one sip. Not recommended.

The best yellow curry in the city is back ... and even a bit better than the original! Tried the new H&C for the first time & were very happy. Excellent food, terrific friendly people & a nice mix of old faves & new dishes we plan to explore. Next time you're on Cook Street do yourself a favour & visit the Hot & Cold Cafe.

You have purchased the business, rebranded and shouldn't get to benefit off all the work the former owner put into this business developing recipes and building community.
Also be upfront about being American owned.

So happy to see Hot and Cold Café back in Cook Street Village under new ownership! One of the original chefs is still here, which means many of the classic flavors and dishes we’ve loved for years are back—including my absolute favorite, the yellow coconut curry. I’ve been enjoying it for over a decade, and it’s just as hearty and delicious as I remember! Prices are very reasonable as well.

They’ve only been reopened for a couple of weeks, so there are still a few small details to refine, like signage and menus, but I have no doubt they’ll get everything sorted. In the meantime, the food is fantastic, and it’s great to support a local spot that’s bringing back so many beloved flavors. Highly recommend checking them out!

Super friendly staff!!
A very warm welcoming greeting when I entered; nice! Lots of variety on the menu, including a few Indian food dishes. Sandwiches on freshly made foccacia bread. I had Chili Chicken sandwich generously stuffed with lots of veggies and chicken breast; amazing flavours. Very tasty mango lassi refreshing drink and dessert all in one.
Party in my mouth ❤️ 😋
